Didn't they have to start from scratch? I didn't think they were able to save any of the code from Perpetual.

This is total conjecture on my part:
I'm guessing that they're using the new Cryptic engine that was initially designed for CO. They've already said it was intended to be flexible enough and expandable enough to do other games (among many other things)
As for concept art/models/gods know what else, you've got me. Some of the existing stuff was probaby converted, there's certainly plenty of pre-made ships and installations for the art guys to work from.
I'm excited, honestly.

I really, really can't wait either! I'm very excited.
I just hope there are full ship interiors... I don't want to play EvE Trek.

I agree with the comment about ship interiors. *crossing fingers*

I am sure that they have some engine code left over from PE but most of this is new stuff so they have done well so far!

Depends on the contract signed with Perpetual from what I understood. If it were pretty normal then the original code would likely not be used. But I have this itching suspicion that to be this far along in such a short time of Cryptic picking it up.... just maybe they got to keep some of the code; if not all of it from the previous Dev Team.
Let us hope it is that because it'll only speed up the process in which we get to beam on up. :)

They got a bit but mostly this game is running the CO engine.

I think its because they have already used the engine in Champs so they are familiar with the whole process.

It does seem like Cryptic is pretty far into development and I'm sure they have been busy working to get the game out the door sooner than anyone expects. Jack Emmert may have said 3 years, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had it out next year!
I would like to see this game overtake WoW and become the most popular MMO. Most importantly, we the fans of Star Trek deserve an awesome game! The latest game, Legacy, was such a disappointment.
Cryptic is a proven company with proven tech to make it all work. They will deliver upon the promise of Star Trek Online!

It is ilogical to speak of legacy disapointment For it brings me tears and it is ilogical for a vulcan to cry. Well Legacy was quite an ilogical choice for a Trek Game
