View Full Version : Cant wait for STO - 3 months into release

I cant wait for STO to be released..more so, I cant wait for everybody to try the game, play it, decide that its rubbish, post their obligatory "ZOMG this game suxx..i quit" threads on the forums and let the rest of us play. I even want all the hardcore trek nerds to leave...so we can stop having "I want ship enteriors, ship bathrooms, ship crew living areas, ship Jefferies-tubes" threads to die.

Bliss...just those that like the game playing because they want to play, not because of fanatic IP worship or "hey lets try this MMO" flavour of the week players.

Hmmm....Lets hope we have enough of a stable community after all these people left!!

Disclaimer : I do not mean Trekkers or Trekkies, im talking about the guy who has a Batleth in the back window of his car and a bumper sticker "I break for Orion Slave girls"

Well, never has an MMO had a flawless beginning.

I'm joining when the game has 'matured' ~ no sooner ~ for countless reasons.

The OP is essentially saying that he can't wait for the game to utterly be deemed a failure by the market.:p
If it all goes as Atari plans they will have their profits as soon as this farce of an ST universe game launches anyway so it won't matter much if they pull a Lucas&Spielberg on Star Trek.

What the hell makes you think you deserve STO more than anyone else? I'll take the guy who likes to push the boundaries over the complaicant mindless drone any day.

I'm with Bigwig here. Everyone has the right to complain about something they think is not right, as long as they do it in a civil manner. And also, I hope the game can attract all those star trek fans, and complainers, and whiners, and good players, and absolutely everybody. If it does, then we can expect to have the game for a very long time to come. If it is not as successful and a lot of people quit (like the OP wants it to happen), then in a few months we'll be back to today with no star trek MMO out there.

I'm waiting for open beta feedback before deciding if i will be getting the game or not. So far its sounds like a good game tho.

Totally. While the complaints can get on the annoying side from time to time, you'll never see progress without them. Constructive criticism from the community is critical for the growth and refining of an MMO. STO is no different. The release day is just the start...

Well we do have a lot of complainers on here just from buying the lifetime or 6 months sub the dev said they will get in, then they assume the worse and think "I will get in when it 2 days from release to the shelfs." I want to get in to the beta like we all do and know I did not buy either but chill cause you will all get in when the majority like me will not. :-P

Hmmm.
Sounds like you've been screwed on a couple opening (pay for the life time membership / founders club deals before) and the game sinks in less than a year (cough, hellgate, cough, london)
been there done that don't want to remember anymore.

But as far as the "I want" fanboys are concerned (yeah keep on dreaming and someday you just might get it)
Doubt we are going to see any of that in this game being that it's ship combat / ground combat sim. (does help if you read some of the posts here on the forum and the devs logs etc)

...Says the guy who cant spell "Nemesis" right:p. However, I agree that the thread starter's post is rather moronic. By the way, why do you assume that the thread starter is young? Adults can be idiotic, too...

Did i hit a nerve? lol, im guessing you have a sword in your car? Its not too late to rip off the bumper sticker.

And no...take a Screenshot of this thread, wait 1 month into launch. Tally up the "zomg im quitting threads" and the "zomg this game doesnt feel like Star Trek!!111" threads...and see where we stand.

Better yet, ill necro it and prove my point...

You do that. The only point you'll prove is that STO would have essentially failed and you, for some reason, stuck by it because you are clearly complaicant with mediocre games.

A) This thread is completely pointless and just plain ignorant.

B) What the hells is wrong with people who hope STO to reach its full potential as a star trek mmo?

C) Enjoy your thread necro in a few months time, if you feel the need to so bad you have issues.

I never heard the plural as anything but Nemesi. lol, I suppose that makes sense, though. I stand corrected:o.
oh, and I think you might have had a typo... "Go learn think. type"...I'm assuming its an insult of some sort, though, in which case, that seemed rather unnecessary, but i suppose that's just because i don't "Learn think" before I type. oh, woe is upon me. On a more serious and not as derailing note, the OP pretty much just insulted a good 2/3rds of the people on these forums. smart move, buddy.

The MMORPG didn't exist 25 years ago so you couldn't have been waiting that long. In fact, if you were even concious all those years ago you were either playing Atari with dreams of playing Captain Kirk in a video game, or playing Star Trek (NES version in the 80's). I'm sure by then your dream of playing any form of Star Trek had already been satisfied. :)

The sarcasm at the end of the quoted message here would only strike a nerve if the person really cared about his forum reputation or not, or cared that people might not like him. Some just really don't care, and don't take the internet as zerious buziness enough to worry about repruccusion from a bunch of spooks behind screen names that he'll never meet and never care to meet in his lifetime. ;)

Me being one of them; But, politeness, even if its only in the sense of making your insults subtle, can help encourage people to listen to his point. however, its doubtful that this was his intention anyway, so your point still stands.

People like the OP make forums what they are today.

Game months away from release and started attacking people who will be unhappy and quit the game in 3 or 4 months?

Just sad.

I can only hope people won't listen to the kind of statements made by the OP. I think STO is going to be very successful; and while it's true there will always be those who'll put it down...the game will remain well after launch. Why the OP even felt it neccessary to make this thread is something I am unable to understand. It serves to do nothing but cause strife in some way, shape, or form.

Can we close this thread before it turns into a super flame war? There is absolutely no point to this thread other than people degrading each other.
