So I've been waiting for a Star Trek MMORPG for a decade (that's 10 long years!), and FINALLY it's coming out... in early 2010. Guess what's coming out also in early 2010. Yes, that's right - we're having our first baby in mid January!

Shame on you, Cryptic. Shame, shame, shame!

You had to wait till I was on diaper duty to release STO? What evil plans are you guys hatching? Are you planning on making me play STO with one hand on the mouse and the other juggling the keyboard AND a baby girl? Having her giggle and coo while I'm blasting Klingons out of the sky (well, space that is)? Dribbling baby spit all over my brand new Sovereign Class starship the day I pull it out of spacedock?

You guys are pure evil.

Now, before anyone takes offense, I'm kidding! I'm having a baby but I'm not mad at Cryptic. My wife is actually laughing at me because she knows how much I've waited for STO and how two of the most awesome things to happen to me (playing STO and having a baby!) are happening at about the same time. Rather then being a bad thing, I know this is going to be a very GOOD thing, and thanks to our baby (our first!) I'm going to have a lot of fond memories of the next year INCLUDING what time I manage playing Star Trek Online with a dribble-free clean monitor :)

Just take hints off Clara from The Guild and all will be good.

I'm sure that you'll find a way to make some free time. I hear unemployment is all the rage in the states right now.:D;)

At least you will have something productive to do on diaper duty.

Just be thankful you're not having triplet girls!!! lol. The first three or so months are tough, but it gets alot better after they start engaging you (and not just cry for a diaper/food/sleep/who knows what lol).

I've been able to squeeze in enough hours a week of play time even with three, so you should be golden. Especially if your wife knows how much you're looking forward to playing STO!

Yes, this is an evil plan by cryptic. I have a five year old son who is finally fairly self sufficient and once he goes to bed, he stays there until morning. Avast! I have a new two week old son. I will be on diaper duty / burping / etc. during the release of this game that I have waited on for decades. Oh well. Perhaps I can have my bride officers take over for a few minutes while I break the world record for the fastest diaper change?

Congratulations are in order! And I must say, you're in the same boat as some of the members of the Fleet I'm in. :D I wish you the best of luck in juggling both the baby and STO, it's bound to be a blast :D

The game will be out on Feb 2nd,The Baby will be a couple weeks old by then,I am sure it will be self sufficient at that point. A klingon baby would be hunting and killing it's own meals at that age. Just another example of why you Humans are so inferior to Us Klingons. Weak little children needing to be held and coddled and such.:D Seriously, congrats.;)

Gratz. At least you can chat in STO at 3 am while you are warming up a bottle, and another generation gets to grow up with Star Trek in a whole new way. :)

Easy fix -

Have 18 kids [and counting] and just let the older kids take care of the younger ones; you'll have all the free time you can ever imagine. Accomplishing this before release date might be a little tricky but hey... that's why we have warp speed!

Congrats first off..
Second as a parent I can tell you the first six months you really don't have to worry to much about that.
Most baby's especially new borns will sleep 22 hours out of the day (if your lucky) and want to eat the other two hours off and on... At least my son who turns four around the time STO comes out did way back when LOTR was in open beta (I think) and he just sat in his crib and watched me slay all the bad guys. And he'd giggle and coo at the screen when I had to hold him during feeding time..
So it's not that bad..
congrats again..

laters.
