Here is a list of questions for cryptic studios for STAR TREK ONLINE
1: will we be able to explore the inside of our own starship?
2: can we beam over to other player's starship and explore it?
3: will we be able to use the shuttlecraft's?
4: if your with a fleet of other players will we be able to build space stations?
5: what will the alien creator be like will we be able to change different head type's say like I want the head to be like a Gorn?

At the top of this forum you will notice a sticky post titled "Everything we Know about STO". Hit that up. You can find out a lot of facts right there about the game without having to spend an hour surfing through forum posts. :)

1) No free exploration. Though some parts of your ship will be available for parts of episodes.
2) Cryptic does want players to beam over to other players ships. But not until free roaming ships interiors are implemented.
3) Shuttles are available, but they are an alternate way to transport down to a planet.
4) Building starbases was an initial idea for fleets, but i'ts held off after at launch.
5) From what Cryptic said about their character creator, it's very much possible.
