Devlopers and all Employees of Cryptic Studios, I wish to convey to you my sincerest thanks and appreciation for devloping this game.

I don't post in this forum much because there seems to be a great deal of negativity regarding alot of things which I asked are not discussed in this thread.

I have been a Star Trek fan for many years, my mother and father introduced me to it in the 70s with the original series reruns. When Perpetual Entertainment announced they were developing a "Star Trek MMO" I was ecstatic beyond belief.

As the years passed by and no game surfaced I was upset and disappointed.

Then I found that Cryptic Studios had picked up the game and started to develop it, and where perpetual had failed cryptic has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. It is now a reality and my Favorite universe is going to be part of my favorite past time, playing games online.

Thank you so very much Cryptic Studios for Developing the universe which I love so much into a game, that I hope, I soon will be playing with thousands of other Trekkies from around the world.

Respectfully,

S.M.Fletcher

I think there are too many "THANKS CRYPTIC!!!" threads. I see a new one just about every day. It smacks of sycophancy to me. I'll save my thanks for when I have my copy of STO in my hands.

I'll chose to remain a skeptic untilt he product is released. Indeed I'm excited to see this game in action too, but let's hope that this part of Cryptic Studios has learned from the issues happening over at their counterpart division at Champions Online.

What are you thanking them for? So far their business practices leave a lot to be desired and they have lied to the paying customers.

Had this feeling also before i found out that it would probably never happen as the game seems to be very very instanced.
Anywho, still better with instanced STO then no STO at all.

Unfortunately, I agree.

You'll get your thanks when those of us that are lifetime/6 month subbers actually get access to closed beta like we PAID for...

Until then.. you get this..

I thank you all once again for posting your negativity when I asked you nicely "Please Don't"

To those that believe I am looking for my Beta Key, No I am not, There are many more ahead of me that deserve it more than I do, and although I have applied, that is not what this post is about.

You people that sit here and cry all day long about "Where's my beta key?" Make me ill, and the people that are employed by Cryptic that have to listen to the consistant ranting have to feel frustrated to have to deal with such immaturity and idiocy every day.

I simply felt that giving these empluyees of Cryptic something positive in their day to read over the consistant harrasment of the "rant" posts would be a good thing to do.

How dare you people accuse me of anything alse you immature whiney little punks. You dont know me and dont know what my intentions are so before you accuse get your facts in order.

Thank you again Cryptic and Thank you Kariv for at least keeping within the spirit of the post.

Have a nice Day

QFT.

It's really mind boggleing. We have nothing to base any thanks on. Even Perpetual gave us some nice screenshots and alot of talk about systems. Should we thank them? I have yet to see STO deliver anything.

Point proven Thank you

The fact is nobody directly insulted or abused you for posting a thankyou thread.

Most people just posted that they think it's too soon to be thanking a company before receiving the product the company promised.

Some people have even paid money for a completely separate game because Cryptic promised them closed beta access if they did so. This promise has not been fulfilled yet.

People have a right to refuse to give thanks and disagree with those who do. Of course you may ask people to refrain from negativity, but I think it's pretty naive to expect everyone to listen to you and get annoyed when some don't.

Bottom line is you called us all "immature whiney little punks", and that's abuse. That kind of attitude is not good enough and you do not have the high ground, even if you think you do.

What kind of nanny state is this where some self righteous jerk reports a video link for having profanity in the subtitles? Children already have free access to youtube. And profanity is nothing new. I'm a child of the 80's and I was exposed to enough profanity in the school yard already.

What do people think will happen these days? If a 5 yearold child learns how to say "fornicate" using just one syllable, he'll be doomed to lead a life of delinquency, alcohol and drug abuse, and violent crime.

To all the self-righteous adults: GROW UP.

Obviously sir you are taking offense, which sir from what I have seen you are not one of the "whiney little punks" that scream about their beta key. (If I am wrong Sir please correct me on this)

However sir for reporting me for not calling you anything directly and yes perhaps generalizing you with other people crying for their Beta key starting one week after beta started was a little harsh, so I apologize to you sir for that.

However for reporting me sir for having an opinion, not even using profanity, proving in the second quote above I will call you sir a hippocrit.

Have a nice day

Interesting that your automatic response was to get the goods on me and use them to invalidate my point. Which has not been invalidated.

I'm not perfect. I have issues with freedom of speech. I didn't like it when someone report a post that was intended to entertain and bring a smile to peoples' faces (and succeeded!).

In my old comment you posted, I was directing my frustration at the act of censorship. You directed your frustration as abuse towards people who exercised their right to free speech.

Im very happy a Start Trek MMO is going to be made, because I think it's about time.

But I will hold my thanks for Cryptic till after the game has come out, at which point I will respond accordingly.

Which in turn you could also say that you are trying to stifle my own opinion about those that are posting in this forum abusing the people that work For Cryptic
Isn't profanity abuse?
Isn't the people scream at the Dev's or the people that work for Cryptic being liars and cheaters abuse as well?
So I state again sir what right do you or anyone else have to accuse me of being dishonest in my true and utter thanks to cryptic for developing this game? I have the right to free speech as well and it is not within anyones right to accuse me of anything with no facts, nor sir is it within your right to stifle or censor my opinion or statements.

I knew it was a mistake for me to post anything in these forums. You sir, and others "not all" are flaming me for saying thank you.

so sir once again you are a hippocrit.

Have a nice day.

If your first response had not been to insult the people who commented, then I would have no issue here. I also find it interesting that you say people are "abusing" Cryptic when they express their concern that they have not received what they paid for.

Isn't profanity abuse?

Not in every single situation.

Isn't the people scream at the Dev's or the people that work for Cryptic being liars and cheaters abuse as well?

Cryptic did not deliver on their promise as players rightly believed they would. It's not abuse to accuse a guilty party of being guilty.

So I state again sir what right do you or anyone else have to accuse me of being dishonest in my true and utter thanks to cryptic for developing this game?

I never accused you of that and I don't support anyone who does. You're talking about slander now. I'm surprised you take it so seriously instead of ignoring people who accuse you of sinister intent.

You still seem to have trouble understanding that the right to free speech does not give you the right to insult people who exercise theirs. By your logic, I could call you any nasty names I liked and anyone who told me that was wrong would be trying to censor me.

That you think you can get away with abusing people who disagree with you by invoking the right to free speech is the only thing I'm concerned about.

If your first response had not been to insult the people who commented, then I would have no issue here. I also find it interesting that you say people are "abusing" Cryptic when they express their concern that they have not received what they paid for.

There are ways to express concerns other than calling people or companies liars. Those concerns should not be expressed in such an open forum such as this. If you are disatisfied with the service you have paid for, then you contact their customer service and request full payment back or some type of compensation within reason, not scream and moan about how you have been lied to and cheated in an open forum. I was responding to several other insulting remarks directed towards me and it is within my rights to respond to those remarks in any manner I see fit. You sir have continued the insults by expressing to me that I do not have the right to have my own opinion nor do I have the right to respond to such insulting remarks.

Not in every single situation.

In every single situation where profanity is used someone will be offended, whether it used in comedy or to "put down" another person. Does profanity have it's place? yes. Do I use it? most definately. However it is within any persons right to claim it as being offensive at any time they so choose. This shows me that you do not have respect for other persons opinions or beliefs only yours matters.

Cryptic did not deliver on their promise as players rightly believed they would. It's not abuse to accuse a guilty party of being guilty.

The promises that Cryptic made, in your opinion, have not been fulfilled. I read the original posted of the option to purchase champions online and in no way does the purchase of these accounts for Champions guarentee immediate and unconditional access to beta. It does however say that those that purchased will be in beta just not when.

I never accused you of that and I don't support anyone who does. You're talking about slander now. I'm surprised you take it so seriously instead of ignoring people who accuse you of sinister intent.

Your response did imply alterior motives.I don't take it seriously, because I know what kind of person I am, and exactly what my intents are. It is frusrtating to me that people like that exist and again it is within my right to respond or not in any manner I see fit.

You still seem to have trouble understanding that the right to free speech does not give you the right to insult people who exercise theirs. By your logic, I could call you any nasty names I liked and anyone who told me that was wrong would be trying to censor me.

Actually, I think you sir need to read your bill of rights, it is you who are confused about your freedom of speech and what it entails. Free speech does not just include only you and your own opinion in it.
If someone does not agree with your opinion they do have the right to express that disagreement any way they so choose. So take a step back, get yourself a copy of The Bill of Rights actually you know what heres the link:

http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/bill_of_rights_transcript.html

That you think you can get away with abusing people who disagree with you by invoking the right to free speech is the only thing I'm concerned about.

So you think that calling people "whiney, little, punks" is abusing. Perhaps... and perhaps people find that offensive just as I find offensive that someone says I posted a Thank you to Cryptic just for the simple attempt to get a beta key. Of that I am ass kissing? They have their right to their opinions just as I do about the consistant complaining. I have the right to express my disatisfaction with it in any manner I so choose. I could have been meaner or nicer if I so chose to do so, I chose my words and will stand by them because that is my opinion and it is what I truly and firmly believe. Again read the 1st amendment above.
You chose to take offense to the statement "whiney, little, punks", however is it within my right to have that opinion? Yes it is as long as I am expressing that opinion peacefully.

Have a nice day

I'm not wanting to get in the middle of any wars in here, but just thought I'd point out that any 'freedom of speech' rights do not pertain to company-owned message boards such as this one.

(Again, not trying to belittle anyone at all; just saying that there really isn't a 'right to freedom of speech' here.)

Actually I got a permanent infraction point just for saying " I like proving smug people wrong". Thats it. All I said. Permanent infraction point.

So I wouldnt be surprised if you got slapped with one.

And as for the thread, we've already seen enough of these. But keep posting them if you must. Dont be surprised though when you see a bunch of folks post the opposite opinion, as there are a lot of ticked off people out there as far as Cryptic is concerned.

I myself am having serious doubts about STO. Ive been looking forward to it for years just like most other people here. I dont really care about beta as I didnt bother even playing Champions. I dont care about that game, I was only looking forward to STO. But from the way Cryptic seems to handle business, my interest is seriously waning. And Im not the only one, by far.
