Rainbow Ship Hulls?!

I just looked at STO's photo stream on Flickr and noticed something about the hull customization, it appears we will be able to select portions of the hull to recolor, e.g. gold, blue, red for science, engineering, command/tactical. I am hoping this is an optional thing, because I really don't want to see rainbow skittles colored starships in STO.

those are old perpetual screens, they dont apply to Cryptics STO. Though it is likely you can still color small sections of your ship.

These screens are from Cryptic's. The first three screenshots that have the ships are from a GameInformer magazine talking about customization.

Cryptic has always said you'll be able to customize ship color.

I believe they've said in a few different interviews that you would be able to pick colors on your ships. Should be a nice feature for fleets with defining marks/colors.

Believe me I double checked the image sources, the ship designs match up with images posted on the official website. I hope they let us turn the colors off client side.... I mean they don't look HORRIBLE but I still prefer ships to look like ships, not like ships in uniform heh....

Cryptic has always been about customization and creating whatever you want. If you want a game that forces players to conform to your vision of Star Trek canon you may be out of luck.

Granted, I'll probably use deep grey for my ships for the most part; but I like knowing the option is there if I choose it. Options = Happy Me.

IMO the second one looks like a mirror universe paint job.

I hope there is a level of colour editing, mabye the glow of warp nacelles.

I don't see any skittle colors here. OP, I think you are exaggerating a bit.

They look fine to me and bit of color with so many ships on screen will do wonders.
