Hmm, I'm interested in the ShiKahr class they just revealed. (FYI it's Vulcan).

(five Escorts, five Cruisers, five Science Vessels, and one starting Lt. Cruiser).

Five? So that means that there is a Teir 6?!

If this is true, then this could be why the NX-91001 wasn't assigned to the fifth Teir, along with the Sovereign.

You can advance through five different Birds of Prey: four Raptors, three Battle Cruisers (like the Vor’cha and the Negh’Var) and one Carrier. You start in a Bird of Prey. When you gain a new rank, you can choose to advance into the next tier Bird of Prey, or instead choose a Raptor. At the next rank, you can choose from the next Bird of Prey, next Raptor, or choose the Battle Cruiser… and so on. Altogether, there are 13 Klingon ship configurations. There is slightly less overall configuration than Starfleet, but there are more high-end ships to choose from.

Very Interesting. Seems the Klingons have as much configurations as the Federation.

But I'm interested in the five different types of BoP's. And curious he said that "next teir BoP'", which makes me wonder that the K'Vort could very well be the Fifth Teir Raider afterall.

And 1 Carrier? So the Vo'Quv is alone.

No there isn't a tier 6 there are just two tier 5's.

The Vo'Quv...I dunno. I can't say I'm not suprised by the entire ship list but knowing how they designed it it doesn't suprise me that the Carrier would be by itself.

"You will suffer a death penalty – we are iterating on that now, but it will likely involve loss of some crewmen, and damage to some of your items. However, you don’t lose your ship. You can respawn at the last unlocked respawn point."

Nice. Not as tough as EVE, but not as weak as CO.

Yeah I agree and it seems they might have gotten one game mechanic right so far. I'm still waiting for all the info on how this Bo crafting system mechanic works. Specifically how one makes new base Bridge Officers.

No there isn't a tier 6 there are just two tier 5's.

Then please explain this:

(five Escorts, five Cruisers, five Science Vessels, and one starting Lt. Cruiser).

With him repeating "five" 3 times, makes me doubt it's a mistake. And Al obviously wasn't including the Starting tier with him mentioning the Lt. Cruisers. ;)

Frankly, I'm surprised at the Vo'Quv being alone. Especially when Cryptic put Klingon categories as Raider, Cruiser, and Carrier.

I posted this in my Ship comparisons thread (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=28528), but heres a chart of the Klingon ships as this interview described them:-

Klingon Ship Tiers (http://suricatasblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/stoklingonshiptierchart1.png)

Ignore the ships in the starting tier, I just added them there as i couldn't figure out where to put them.

Was just gonna post this interview, but i'm obviously too late... <.< Groovybuckets...! -_-

Well, it sounds good at least. ;) Though I feel more and more inclined to go Fed rather than Klingon as I originally thought I would... :S

Thanks for this :)

Klingon gameplay revolves more around PvP... but for launch, Klingon Star Trek Onlineplay is more about social gameplay than story driven content.
Klingon ship progression is slightly different. There is slightly less overall configuration than Starfleet, but there are more high-end ships to choose from.

So basically they've not got enough to flesh out the Klingons and give them PVE content or ship diversity :(

Two Ships for Tier 5, it's possible that's what they are refering to. But they have yet to reveal them.

And doesn't mean that a sixth Tier could not exist at the high-end or a future expansion.

Yeah, it really seems to squash my hopes of playing Klingon, or at least for it to be interesting to play Klingon.

Funny, I don't recall there being "2" in Teir 5.

Me neither. It's not listed that way in the current ship listing, which means that, one way or another, we are missing something.

I would point out that the SotL doesn't display a tier 6 anymore than it lists a second set of Tier 5's. however the 2 Tier 5's are discussed here. (http://www.startrekonline.com/node/453)

... that you point out here. I read this review and must have missed/forgotten the point about two tier 5 ships/configurations per profession.
