In many games we see that some ships have abilities and technologies that others don't. For example the Akira class in Star Trek Amarda has a bouncing torpedo that hits a ship and moves onto the next, while the Steam Runner class can stop other ships from moving. Will each ship have special abilities that others don't?

Also do you think there will be any references to he shows and movies such as The Next Generation and Voyager?

Also Alex Jaeger stated that he created the Akira as a sort of "carrier/gunship," he also said "This was my gunship/battlecruiser/aircraft carrier. It has 15 torpedo launchers and two shuttlebays - one in front, with three doors, and one in the back. I really got into it with this one, with the whole idea that the front bay would be the launching bay, and then to return they'd come into the back, because they'd be protected by the rest of the ship."

Im not sure about that but is it true?

In regards to the ship abilities I really hope they don't go as far as what Armada had. Most of them should be passive or boost type abilities.

As for the Akira being a carrier two things, first the devs have stated that the Federation won't be getting a carrier class. Second despite the way it may have been designed to function the only thing that really matters is how it was used to determine its canon standings. We have never seen it used as a carrier so we can't say if it is or isn't.

Well, I'm pretty sure they won't have the bouncing, charged phaser in this game. But the Akira is, far as I know, a missile boat, so expect a big flurry of torpedos. Ships will be different, I'm sure, giving us different speeds, range, special abilities, etc. Since you can extensively modify your ship's capabilities, there may be not too much problem meeting your hopes and expectations. Don't like so many torpedo launchers? Take one out and pop in a hull alloy upgrade. Everyone wins.

That sounds pretty cool I guess.
