If so, would each planet have a different cycle?

And would you stay long enough on it to ever see it?!?

It would be cool to be able to fight at night and during the day...night raid anyone?

I am not expect to set up camp! beam down do some shooting then beam out. but the idea of exploring the dark side of a planet sounds like fun

I would think they would be different based on the paticular system not all the planets in any of the shows where like earth some had no sun light from what we saw even with them beaming back and forth and different intervals.

Interesting thought Whoppin.
We haven't really seen anything in the videos to suggest a day night cycle on planets, and as far as i know the devs haven't said or been asked anything about it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if planets have day/night rotation that they will not have their own independent cycles, as it's not really necessary as from what i understand you can't be in two places at one time.
If you're thinking something like "But if i fly from Planet Pie to planet Cake they wouldn't both be experiencing day" You need to factor in Travel times (we won't be experiencing them, but they exist) and the fact that in most cases when a Starship arrives at a planet they would come into orbit on the day-side because that's where (in most cases) people will be awake and willing to communicate with them.
All this being said though i'm not a Dev and i can't be sure. It's an interesting question though.

"where are they attacking from?"
"I dont know, I'm just aiming for the Green energy blasts!"

That would be cool, even if every planet in the game had the same day and night cycle.

Wouldn't the space combat count for that too??

My question in this regard is also... Will planets with multiple light sources, aka "stars" create multiple ground-shadows.

I can also see some planets having a tidal lock so that one side always faces the parent star.

I've seen a few Night shots at Gamespot.
Like this (http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2009/246/reviews/924226_20090904_790screen005.jpg) one, & this (http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2009/246/reviews/924226_20090904_790screen001.jpg) one.
Whether or not there is a cycle though, I have no idea. But I would be safe to assume there would be.
