Wow, so that explains how the Gorn and the Orions ended up on the Klingon's side. And from that last few seconds, it looks like the Federation is going to have a serious fight on its hands.

What does everyone think?

The more interesting thing is the involvement of that shapeshifter race. Did someone hire them?

weren't that 8472 ?

Also, what does Martok have to say about this anti-federation stuff!

He is most honourable in his ways and likes the Federation.

Yeah, it was 8472. Remember, they tried pulling this on the Federation but Voyager found them first.

Am I the only one who is not happy with the graphic engine. In space, it looks like Homeworld 2 in my eyes. Poor! They should improve it. And there are also no visible shields during the fights?

what is wrong with the graphic engine, it looks perfectly fine to me?

...it is pre-beta and I'm guessing there are no shield graphics at all.

If memory serves me correct - past videos have shown 'bars' surrounding the ship that show shield depletion? Not seen them for a while. Some people have said they'd like bubble shields (which I'd like too) but hasn't Cryptic said they have graphics in place for both but haven't finalised that yet. I guess you guys in Beta will get to make that call?!

From a post about shield graphics I posted this old video

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/debut-trailer-star-trek/38183?type=wmv

It could be possible that they disabled the shield graphics for purposes of the videos in order to get ships to blow up on que and such.....directors eh?

Anyway loved the video can't wait to get this on release date.

What I want to know is... What happened to the path to 2409 posts? I'd much rather read those which go into much more detail then have it crammed into a 2 minute video!

video is prefixed as "Pre-beta" so dont expect all the graphical polish you'd expect to find at release

i like this way of delivering the Path to 2409, although i must admit it would be nice (not necessary) to have a final text wrapup of the last 2 videos to add to the Path page of the site

Graphics, in pre-beta no less, look fantastic...i think most of the polish is needed in the size of the beam weapons, shields of course, and perhaps the hardpoint clipping...i see a lot of the beam weapons going through the ship that is firing due to this clipping...that needs to be shored up...but im confident all that polish and touch will be prevalent in the final release :D

Great video overall, love Zinc's welcome message :D

I loved it and i cant wait to play the game february cant come fast enough...that said my life will have very little in it for the month of february lol, but the video looked great, i saw a few glitchy stuff that will probably be fixed after all it is pre beta footage, it sums up the story nicely for some of the people that didnt read all the path to 2409...i read most of it lol... but what bothers me is the posts by some guys on the gamestop website, they are all b****ing sorry bout the language, they are complaining about how it doesnt explain much and its quick filler to fix the nemesis mess up. All they need to do is log onto startrekonline.com and read 2409 which someone posted. That said i cant wait for this game to start up, i will be the first in line to get it...actually i will preorder when a release date is set by cryptic lol, i got screwed over by gamestop on starcraft 2 lol still waiting!!!

That is a nice video. Allthough I don't like the streams of the impulse engines and nacells. I hated them in ST: Legacy and I really hope we can turn them off.
Those shapeshifters are definetly Species 8472 and perfectly fit into an infiltration plot. They tried it with the Federation and were exposed by Voyager.

There have been many times I thought, they should have just bought the extra licences, and made it Star Fleet Battles Online.

start with klingon and fed...each expansion add a race

Romulans
Hydrians
Lyrans
Kzinti

ect..

oh well, too late I guess

yes that was too fast for my taste too. I had rather seen 10 or more timeline videos with footage from federation, cardassians and romulans viewpoint. But it explains how the war starts and confirms who will be on klingon side. It looks like my alt will be Orion. oh and video is 3 minutes 20 seconds ;)

What I want to know is what happened to the "Ships of the Line" posts. It's been awhile since they've thrown us a ship. I'd really like to see one of those admiral level cruisers.

The videos were nothing special. Other than quick tid bits of info that don't really list the details of why everything is happening, there was really nothing to be gained here. The graphics don't look all that stellar. I hope they do something about the beams and the shields. Not to mention the ship roll that happens whern the thing gets desroyed. Tellyou the truth, the very first video looks the best in terms of combat. Much better than what they have put out recently. And weren't they doing something about the explosions? Like making them good? They look like crap.

Bring the Path To's back. Much better than this stuff.

i'm also not very impressed from the video.
for me, it's not a step forward, it's a step back of visual and movement improvements.

You guys need to chill about the video. It's a promo and designed to be short, to the point and tease the hell out of us. I think it fullfilled those points very well.
The questions you should be asking is.
1. Has species 8472 managed to infiltrate the Federation after all.
2. Holy Crap where did all those Klingons come from?
3. Whose knocking at the back door? Maybe the Borg.
4. Could this be the end of the Federation as we know it?
5. Who will the Romulans side with once they become a playable faction?
As for me, Break open the Bloodwine, sound the drums of war! It's time to kick some Federation holyer than thou butt!

Yeah. No. The klingons didn't think this one through...again. You want to keep fighting? Ok. You think the Feds are weak? Ok. You never learn do you? Well, I guess natural selection needs a boost in the right direction. Let's start with your house and work our way up. Death to the empire.

Alright!!! A challange! Maybe there is hope for humans? To bad that it's to late for redemption, because the Federation is about to go the way of the Tribbles!

Tribbles be damned. That's exactly what I'll use to get the edge. Nothing scares a Klingon more than a furry little creature with no ability to defend itself. Either way, it'll be fun trading shots with you;)

I did not like how in the last part of the video where they showed all the fighting, a lot of ships just sat there and werent even moving when firing or dodging or doing anything tactical.

Maybe my memory is fading... but I don't recall anything from the Voyager episodes mentioning that Species 8472 are shapeshifters.

Shapeshifters trying to infiltrate the Klingon and Gorn leadership... it does remind me a little bit of past attempts of the Dominion.

It's possible that they are Species 8472 but why would they be trying to infiltrate key governments in the Alpha/Beta quadrants? Their ships are pretty powerful already so why the subterfuge?

There was an episode of voyager where they found a spehere with 8472 looking like humans and pretnding the be on earth at star fleet headquaters. In the end they had a truce and 8472 leader said he might not be able to get his leaders to honor the truce. That was the last episode 8472 appeared in

Maybe one shapeshifting species is collaborating with another shapeshifting species... 8472 & Dominion. :p
