I wonder since the end of the Dominion wars in 2376 until 2409 ..... what have the founders and dominiion been up to ...

What would they think of the Alpha and Beta quadrants and how the solids are doing ....

We know that Romulans are suffering with their own problems.... from recent events

The Cardassians might just be getting back on their feet as a race and civilization unless they died of as a civilization and pockets scattered around around the galaxy.

The founders may have recovered from their virus which Odo was curing by merging with the great link and going through his memories and experiences.

The Dominion who are masters of cloning , rapid construction and they used of the Jem'Hadar who might still be the Dominions shock troops .....

......

The really big unknowns and anyones guess

Then there is always the Borg ..... A the end of Voyager Janeway's neurolytic pathogen might have resulted in substantial long-term damage .... but will they recover in the timespan from 2378 when voyager arrives home to 2409. They might haver learnt with apprences in recent films and in Tv episodes by changing to a more spy and less confuntational assimilation for any species which cannot be assimilated by force?

And Species 8472 ....... discovered by the Borg in 2373 and Janeway tore Seven from the colletive late that year...

Lots of material for content here .... anyone want to suggest what could happen in star trek .... I have not read any books after nemisis so i have a few blanks.....

I think they would be chuckling and discussing how those quarrelsome Alpha Quadrant idiots ever allied long enough to defeat them :)

They might have learned (in recent films and TV episodes), and changed to a subtler and less confrontational assimilation when a species cannot be assimilated by force?

Now that you mention it the Borg seem to attack more than adapt in the shows. Sneaking nascent tubules into a species makes more sense than brute force assimilation imho.

And Species 8472 ....... discovered by the Borg in 2373 and Janeway tore Seven from the colletive late that year...

Last I heard from ole 8472, they had made some peace with the UFP after their invasion research. I should think we would be in a mutual non-aggression pact and help each other against the Borg by 2409.

If what Admiral Janeway said holds true which would hold true enough considering Voyager didn't get assimilated by the Borg, learned a lot about them, and built really good weapons against them on their way back to Earth in the slightly alternate future timeline then as she said the borg should be old hat now and hardly a threat.

It can also be assumed that Admiral Janeway's secrets and such didn't get assimilated due to the destruction of that node which cut off communication with the rest of the collective from that section and further the process never got done enough for it to happen...

If anything the Borg are weaker in 2409 in the Prime timeline than they were in Admiral Janeway's timeline and should be a minor nuisance rather than a threat if anything at all.

Also if you follow the pattern shown to be the case so far in trek history there is usually only 1 war per century. The 26th century war is with the Spere builders and this is an united effort by most if not all of the galaxy if i remember right so this war in STO might be the Unification War that creates the new federation if you take it as canon.

There are alot more than 1 war per century in trek. The 24th alone had the Romulan Klingon War, the Klingon Civil War, the Dominion War, the Cardassian Border War(s), and god knows how many else among the lesser known races.

They said in a recent interview from last week that the Borg made a comeback and are the main big baddies of the universe again.

Im certain the Dominion will be hanging about in game but I wouldn't expect them to be the main threat.

From a MMO point of view, a long grinding war of attrition doesn't make for a good end boss fight.
A couple of Borg cubes do.

They are schemers and tend to take a long view of things. Nearly getting wiped out by a bio weapon may make them go back to the drawing board for a hundred years.....

...Alternatively they could be behind the recent Federation/Klingon warring. The Feds and the Klingons are the only powers left standing in the alpha quadrant with the destruction of Romulus.
War between the two suits the Dominion even if they are in no position to take advantage of it with no current foothold in the alpha quadrant.
