Usually, Wow releases a new big patch or expansion a month before some new big MMO launches.
With STO, SWTOR and probably DC Universe Online all expected next year, it'll be a big year for WoW-players!! :D

I'm not sure what this topic has to do with "Star Trek Online Discussion", considering it's more about another game's reaction rather than this game itself; however, I'll participate in the conversation.
Blizzard (known as Activision-Blizzard now) is said to be producing a "secret new MMO" that they've been working on for the past year and a half. They've also delayed Diablo III and Starcraft 2 until next year. So, it's only a conclusion that they're either A) Going to make big announcements about their new MMO at STO/SWTOR's launches, or B) Set the launch date of Diablo III and/or Starcraft 2 to coninside with STO/SWTOR's launch dates.

On a serious note, yeah, I think that, should STO be astoundingly well recieved, WoW would obviously port features over in one way or another.

Yeah they'll probaly do that, or delay the release of Cataclysm until STO gets released.
It's the same thing as it was with hellgate.
When the first screenshots came out they began to realize that MMORPGs with good graphics are possible and made WoWs a bit better.
I wonder how much they have paniced, after seing some of STOs better Screenshots *g*

Blizzard releases games when they are done, when was the last time they didn't delay one of their games?
And yes, WoW will definitely have space ships. And Romulans will be a playable race, just to 1 up Cryptic. This is common knowledge.

WoW will probably get Guild Zeplins or boats.
They won't be able to attack anything, they'll just be like 40 person mounts.
But i bet you that's what they do.

You must construct additional pylons.
Heh, this does make me laugh <,< just because I remember when WAR launched and had the Tome of Knowledge - which imo was a fantastic feature... and then it seemed like just days later, WoW had something similar.
Honestly, I don't mind that too much - it does make absolutely good sense to take good ideas and use them (after all, what good is a good idea if it's not used?) - but it does get somewhat aggravating when you want to see a smaller developer succeed; that smaller developer comes up with an innovation and... then WoW has it too.
But whatcha gonna do eh? <x.x>
At least WoW will never have Cryptic style character customization. (Though it's a shame some smaller MMOs don't try it imo... I really figured that the idea would have caught on by now.)

WoW tends to take elements from MMOs that work and adapt and refine them.
They've never taken elements of City of Heroes or Champions Online because... well... none of it worked.
It's doubtful that they'll start with Star Trek Online, which right now just looks like it is being rushed out of the door to keep investors and CBS happy.
So no. It's not going to happen.
And the away team set up Cryptic are using is just a stolen feature fro Guild Wars and RPGs like Neverwinter Nights before it :-) Companions are nothing new :-P

Why not? They stole everything else from other games.
Over the years I have seen a lot of people asking for a Star Craft MMO. But Blizzard will never do that. Instead, once they see what a great success the STO starship combat is, they will begin work on their 4th WOW expansion, and call it "World of Warcraft: Space Invasion"
The StarCraft forces will all crash on Azeroth, each joining a different faction. The Terrans will join the Alliance, (huge battlecruiser crashed in Ellwyn forest). Meanwhile, the Protoss will join the Horde, and the Zerg will join the Scourge. It will be the stupidest thing Blizzard has come up with yet, but 10 million people will call it 'Brillaint'.

Aren't many of the races trans-dimensional? I mean the whole Horde invasion that started with the Orks came through the Dark Portal which lead to another dimension. Same goes for the Undead who joined the mix in WC3.
The difference is in fantasy these portals to other worlds/dimensions are created by magic and mystical means. While in SciFi portals to other worlds/dimensions are created through technology. The only difference is Fantasy seldom goes into space while SciFi often ventures there even in cases where portals are available like in Stargate.

No need to put starships in WoW. They just have to keep adding expansions, and making an addictive game that keeps people hooked. Blizzard people are far too smart, so they will keep doing it and having 11 million zombies paying $15 a month. Heck, I'm one of those zombies myself :S

That wasn't anyone being grammar police.
That was someone correcting the idea that Blizzard WOULD, in a nebulous future-tense way, do something ... by pointing out that they already HAD, in a concrete and definitive past-tense way, already done that very thing.
WoW will be here for a long time I think its a good MMo for people starting out on MMo's or who dont normally play computer games

Seriously? I just watched the video for that and was like...WTF?!, The "worgen" are now Alliance, which doesn't make much sense (they're wild werewolves), and the always neutral Goblins are now, after so many hundreds of years, finally deciding to join a side with the Horde? Oh, and on top of that, they're introducing "all new content" in the form of doing what they always do: Rehashing the old content to call it "fresh" and "new".
As for the OP, I think they'll introduce some spaceship styled flying mount in their game, similar to how they introduced the motorcycle, the helicopter, the dragons, and the many other things players can mount in the game. They're just that way.
Oh, and just to be clear:
--Worgen look to be a copy from Darkfall
--Gobllins as playable look to be a copy from Warhammer
--Guild Leveling system is a copy from Warhammer
--Everything else is rehash
I'm just bitter that Warcraft is the reason that genre seems to be limited so much and that there hasn't been much change or alteration from the "standard path" that Warcraft has created.

I used to go back and forth between WoW and all those dead-and-buried MMO's that tried to enter the same genre after that. I mean, Warhammer Fantasy?!?!? Do 40K, you idiots! It hasn't been done yet! They should have stopped production on WAR when WoW started to utterly dominate the market.
/rant.. I really think Blizzard is overdoing it with this latest expansion, it doesn't make sense at all. This might be a turning point in WoW popularity, I think.

Well, what's worse is, they didn't even start on WAR until long after WoW was already dominating!
As for WoW itself ... I really don't think Blizzard cares at this point ... they are already focusing on their new MMO, and if WoW is still too strong, how will they suck those people over. I really think they are in a "blow it out and give em everything" mode with WoW.

Lots of hillarious thoughts guys. And I apologize for putting this in the wrong section oops. My concern is that wrath of the lich king was the beginning of the end of WAR. From everything I've hear wow is pve oriented and I have little interest in that, so yes it annoys me that other games with diff priorities get destroyed. To be clear it wouldn't bother me if they would ever come up with something on their own, but it seems taht all they do is copy others.
Yes I truly wish warhammer would have been warhammer 40K that would have been EPIC! And I agree that IF wow actually adds starships I believe it would destroy the player's suspension to disbelief ie it will be the beginning of the end for wow. But on the other hand D and D did it and people loved it so who knows.
Otherwise great posts guys I laughed my ass off reading them /thumbsup

I think the idea is possibly, the Alliance-Worgen will be somewhat like Death Knights" "infected" Worgen who have retained some or all of their sense of self-identity, and choose to apply the undeniable power their curse gives them to the benefit of the Alliance, in the hopes that the Alliance can perhaps find and supply a CURE for that curse.
As for the Goblins: it's not all Goblins who will be joining the Horde. Goblins have many separate Cartels, and only one of them is joining the Horde. Also remember that in prior Warcraft RTS games, some of those Goblins were indeed allied with - or at least, in VERY close business relationships with - the Horde.
As for the OP, I think they'll introduce some spaceship styled flying mount in their game, [...]
Already done. TBC has a Goblin research post, tongue-in-cheek named after Area 51 ... and IIRC, that is where you can get a Nether Rocket as a flying mount. Essentially, a Buck Rogers rocketship, with a saddle. :)
