Regarding the CO Beta offer...everybody stop complaining.

Okay, seriously guys, it's getting a little overboard. I get it, you're all angry, I would be too, but just because you are not in the beta at this very moment does not mean that the CO subscribers who bought the combo are going to be forsaken. To my knowledge, there is nobody at this time playing the STO Closed Beta, even though it's been officially announced. Nobody was promised to have automatic access into the game for buying the Lifetime sub/6 month sub, just guaranteed access into it. Just chill out and wait for Cryptic to actually send out the rounds of invitations before getting your panties in a bunch. Seriously, cool it off.

I'm sorry, but to be frank, no one will listen to you, or anyone else asking people to calm down. They feel lied to or betrayed. If they actually were is neither your nor my place to judge, it's how they feel. Because they feel that they will express it, which they are fully allowed to do as long as they don't breach the terms of service. You can either weather it out, take a break from the boards for a week or so or hope the devs give some reply that will calm the masses.

I'd like to know why you think they wouldn't have picked us in the first wave, and why there isn't a timetable...

I jumped into this mostly because I talked about the possibility of them backing out on their original commitment for us to be amongst the closed beta testers. I didn't think they would be so lame as to say "We didn't say "WHEN" in beta you'd get in". Daeke said what he did on the 13th of September because of all the talking about it we did in August...and was ther an instant response in August? No, because they were still seling an empty promise - people forget there were probably a few thousand posts on the issue.

Pretty lame to now say.... "with one little exception"

and no idea how they plan to add us in - other than "We have our ways" (*Que mystery theme)

My theory in August that I posted would be they would call this period Alpha, as a pre-beta stage with very limited numbers. I had no idea they would make a big beta launch announcement and then say:

"with one little exception"

But why did they do it?


It's a numbers thing. They want us to be on the CO servers, simple as that.

and it's pretty lame.

Without a statement to the contrary - even though they now act as if they are addressing it.

Well there is no other reason.

Pee poor way to run two lemonade stands if you ask me - I don't really care - I know about the buggy conditions all are likely seeing - but we are amongst the core customers and supporters.

You know the gag order as it relates to this issue is only going to cause additional speculation, cynicism, and grief.

Look, my point is here is that, everybody just needs to calm down and look at this from an objective point of view; regardless of subscription or method of entry into the beta, it seems that nobody has gotten in yet. We'd see numerous reports of it, and then, should the majority of those reports be people that didn't get in via subscription, people can raise as much of a storm as they want. Until then, it seems more than likely that the CO Lifers/6ers will get preference in the first round. Probably 65-35. As of now, it seems that there really is nothing to go nuts over, like a good majority of this board is.

I'm just counting on the forum community to be a bit more reasonable than those on some others.

CO does not need this distraction. The grief they are bringing to the issue by not flooding an STO test server is going to cause more public perception damage than removing those players from the CO servers.

But that is the problem - the big secret is that a lot of current CO players would make it obvious regarding CO player count. So much for the big secret... I think Atari doesn't realize that CO is just fine if they look at the long haul. No way was it likely to have a blockbuster launch anyway.

Perhaps the bean counters have lost all common sense. It's getting to where I can no longer count major blunder in their promotions on one hand - some issues, like this one, we even talked about.
