I posted this in another thread, but it's pretty much already lost in the massive spamming that's attracted to that thread. Basically I was just wondering if Cryptic will be announcing the Invite Phases as they happen, something basic, not saying how many invites are sent out or anything like that.

Something simple like this:

"Hey Guys! Tomorrow is Wednesday (February 30th) and coming with the new day will be a new wave of invites being sent out! Be sure to check your mailboxes and good luck!!"

Would be nice to see a notice like that so we know when they're going out and when to check, instead of the mass F5'ing people seem to do every minute of every day so far.

I find that a bit difficult to believe. ;)

For me... the big announcement about beta starting on the main page is a pretty good reminder to check my e mail... or the thing on the side that says closed beta applied when I log in is also a good indication on my status for beta.:) I will however.. know for sure im in beta when it says closed beta application accepted.

They have stated that you should check your e mail from time to time as they will be periodically sending out invites... that's also on the main page.

Nah just a reality. This is a weekend. I'm doubting anyone is in the office to send out keys plus I'm betting the servers aren't even up on the weekends. I'm thinking it'll be similar to the CO beta cycle. However I did just check upon being reminded :) I'll only be hammering the F5 key during weekdays :)

Good idea, I hope Cryptic does something like this, since they are really involved with the community, which is amazing. This will only add to how amazing their involvement is.

It would be nice if they did but if not ill live with it. Lucky i use gmail and the gmail notifier program so i usually know when i have an email within a minute or less of getting it. But im not really expecting another wave of invites before monday. But if its anything like other beta's ive been in there wont be much notice of the invites and half the people who didnt get in on a given invite wont know about the batch of invites till hours after they've all gone out.

You know. I was thinking about that the other day. No other game have I followed this closesly so early. The only game I can remember that comes close was Anarchy Online and I didnt start looking at that until it was near the end of Closed Beta. City of Heroes I didn't start paying close attention to until a week before launch.

Of course I was all hyped up over the Diplomat class in AO thinking there would be political intrigue type stuff... Um let's not go there. but CoH was great. I still play that although at this point I cna't play it regularly like I used to. I get burned out pretty easy after 5 years. I still like it though.

Well CO I suppose although I wasnte following that very closely. I applied for Beta on a whim and got in. I suppose I followed it pretty close after that.

I actually decided to just stay logged into my messenger, so when I do get an email it pops up for me.

If you use Firefox, WebMailNotifier is a very valuable tool :)

It would be nice if Rekhan threw out a heads up ... but I don't see him doing it, because every time he posted something like that, there's be 72 hours of QQ'ing by the people that didn't get in. :(

Sad, and, unfortunately, likely very true. :(

The very reason I've stopped posting on the forums. Almost every thread since a few weeks before beta start is QQing of some kind. This is one of those rare good idea threads.

That said, it doesn't take much to say when a new wave is being invited, unless it's a daily occurrence.

I would like for them to announce the waves, I hope Cryptic responds this thread!

Zepath has the right of it. If they're doing 'trickle' invites, a la "okay, we can take another 25-250 and see what that does to the servers," then they're not going to invite the wrath of CO Lifetimers who aren't one of the lucky ones on this trickle. If they're doing 'heavy' invites every few weeks, they're not going to admit to the upset people that it might be weeks before they get invited. Even after all the CO folks are in, there's going to be plenty of people who get frothy, so...

As for me, I'm checking every day, even weekends, because it costs me nothing to check and how else am I going to feed an unhealthy obsession. (Well, beyond my reading the entire series of Star Trek Titan and Star Trek Destiny books.)

Well, I was a bit dissappointed that it still said "applied" as opposed to "accepted" when I logged in, but oh well, thems the breaks.

Maybe I will get in later.

Regardless its a nice sign of progress.!:D
