Hello all!

I have been following the development of STO with great interest. Looking back one year from now, I feel quite reassured that STO will become an interesting addition to the Star Trek universe.

Motion pictures are in many ways related to computer games. And without music, they are both rendered dull and uninteresting. One of the things I deem important in any computer game, be it a first-person fighter or a massively multi-player online game, it is the quality of the music production.

There are some great games out there with great soundtracks, such as the early Medal of Honor games (especially MoH:AA, if you can remember it), Knights of the Old Republic II, and many more. There are also many games with terrible quality on sound and music production. To mention a few: Horizons, Settlers, Icewind Dale, later Age of Empires games, &c.

Perhaps my worst experience was the newly released Hearts of Iron III game, where classical pieces (ranging from Wagner to Beethoven and Tchaikovsky) had been "recorded" in a bad software sequencer. In my opinion, this greatly reduced the quality of the game as a whole. If one essential component, such as the music (or the graphics, or the AI, or the storyline) is bad, it will greatly affect other parts of the game, that in themselves might be good to begin with.

My reason for raising this issue? I am concerned with the musical production (sound tracks, ambient music, musical design) and sound production (voices) of Star Trek Online. The Star Trek universe has some absolutely thrilling music, and I hope that the developers of STO holds this as an important aspect in the game's development, so that we get high-quality and professional recordings that enhances the experience of playing STO rather than making it a nightmare (like in Hearts of Iron 3), for movie- and games enthusiasts, such as myself.

One should not underestimate the importance of investing time, energy and hiring professionals to do this job.

Thanks so far, and keep up the good work with the game! I am eagerly awaiting it here in Northern Europe.
