hi everyone,
i was in the city of heroes beta that started about the same time as sto beta is,with the city beta it was a 4 month beta run starting i believe in dec as a closed beta.i came in on the beta 1 run (jan/feb),then came a beta 2 and then the launch of city in april.so a 4 month beta run is not out of the question.having been in the gaming industry in the 80's & 90's and having done beta testing for earth & beyond and LOTR,the beta time is used to test stress levels on the servers and to find bugs that programmers have missed in the code.it is not by any means the final game you will be playing and no music or title screens, just the core game.what i do like about crytic when it came to the city beta is when the last day of beta testing started they had a rikki invasion of atlas park that was push over to the storyline in the final release.it was a great way to do a stress level test and i am hoping the same would happen in sto online beta like a wolf 259 senario.the good thing about this is the beta should not be that long since they are using the core engine from champions online so most of the problems should be fixed.my guess would be testing the new genesis engine and warping times from server to server.from what i saw of the alpha demo this will be something special and looking forward to this beta.

I have one word... WOW!

Trying to read all of that is like being hit in the head several times with a tack hammer. It's just running all together...

Not trying to be mean here but man that post is kind of hard to read (paragraphs are your friend)

I didnt get in the CO beta but I would imagine that they do already have a lot of the game engine stuff ironed out for STO.

Umm wasn't city of heroes 4 years ago and the beta for STO has not started yet correct? Not putting the pieces together here. Lost me on the first sentence.

Yeah, spaces between sentences and line breaks would make this more readable. Aside from that, I think that regardless of whether or not they only need ~4months for beta, that's the max they're getting because of the stated release time-frame.
