Ok so i get the point of when we reach a new rank we get a new ship, but what i want to know is once you reach admiral can you get every ship. So like after a year of playing sto can i have every ship the federation has?

I'd imagine at least one of each class (maybe not one of each config).

We don't know how many ships we can have ... we suspect 3 per tier (so 15?)

I've oft wondered the same thing; whether or not we can have an inventory of ships to break out (pending skill) for specific missions.
I've also wondered what our 'inventory' of bridge officers might be. I understand that we can trade them... gain them through quests and such... I'm sure through other means, as well, and that most will have to be 'leveled'. So there must be some method to change them out as a situation warrants.

i'd say you get 1 tier 0 ship (Starters) then one of each type of ship , assuming you put the skill points into them, of each branch of each tier.... I dunno, but i'd say you can gtet at elast one of each type.

I would love to see a system where I can put together a ship I can fly at any starbase. One of the things I did not like in EVE is that if I wanted to move to another sector or planet, it would take me hours to move my ships to that new place. Wasted time in my opinion.
That would just give you one ship at a time, but with the ability to change to another type of ship pretty easily. More info from Cryptic would be nice.

I doubt you'll have to worry about that in a Cryptic game ... I wish you did have to worry about it, and they just let your BO's taxi the ships to where-ever.
But Cryptic games typically aren't deep enough to make you have to worry about that.

well, if you had something kinda like the ship idea i posted a week or so ago, the Extra BO's not on your ship would be controlling your other ships. ((gives them a way to earn skill points for the 'behind the scenes' helping when they aren't working with you.))

<Bizarro_Rekhan> <blarneystone> Will it cost more (action points, or whatever the progression points are called) for a Engineer class to buy a Tactical Ship and vice versa.
<Cryptic_Snix> The cost for acquiring a class of starship isn't determined by your own career choice. We are encouraging players to experiment with different Captain/Ship Class combinations.
The way I read that you can have any/all ships if you and your BO's have the skill to fly them.
