Main Menu Music?

What do you guys think the menu music should be? I'm really hoping its the TOS theme song....it would make the game 10 times more enjoyable each time I turn it on. If not I hope they get an actual orchestra to make some music for the game.

Any one of the original style theme would be good. I just hope they get a one of the actors from any of the series to voice the vocal parts of the theme.

I would love to have customizable music where if you want to hear TOS on the main menu you can, or TNG if you wish, etc. I would like the same customization for space music, space combat, ground combat, etc. Let us pick whatever themes we want from the entire Star Trek industry.

I made a thread on it some time ago. Post Here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=825931&highlight=next+step+customization#post825931) if anyone thinks this is a good idea and wants to advocate it.

I just a thought (and yes it hurt a lot), but it would be cool if you could choose different themes to play?
e.g. you could select Voyager style music or TNG style music or TOS style music to play.

But I think it will most likely (probably 100% sure) be all original composition made by a composer for Cryptic, and yes I'm hoping it's a fully orchestral composition.

Yea as long as they keep it authentic and epic at all times it should be good. I don't want cliche battle music on at all times

Of course we need some Klingon Opera for our Klingon players. I'm sure they don't want some pathetic Federation music hehe.

Cryptic is well known for bringing max customization to players. I think the next logical step in this is to allow customizable in-game music. STO would be the first MMO to have it (to my knowledge) - would be great for marketing their brand in this industry.

I think a dynamic music system would work great during actualy gameplay. It would auto adjust the music depending on what you are doing in the game. So during battle you would have strong battle type music playing, then as you blow up the last baddy, the music would then change into a serene piece showing that the battle is over. Similar during exploration, perhaps have a big fanfare when you discover a new planet or something.

LoTRO actually does have a player music option in that your char gets an instrument and one can actually play notes. Quite interesting but a pain for the non musical among us.

SWG had something similar - you didn't play notes but your character played songs. Some which were unlocked. But I'm talking about going into In-Game Options and seeing something like this:

Game Launch / Main Menu Music (Choose One):

Default: Star Trek Online Theme
Orignal Series Theme
Animated Series Theme
Next Generation Theme
Deep Space 9 Theme
Voyager Theme
First Contact Theme
Star Trek XI Theme


Then the same type of options for catagories like:
- Ground Combat
- Space Combat
- Travel / Zoning

I agree with Nagus; this is a fantastic score, and it says "Trek" in the minds of people who are new to the saga. They'll have seen this movie, and the game will resonate with that; plus it's just a damn fine piece of music.

Turning the game on and hearing Shatner's opening would fill me with glee.

It could still work in STO though as a lot of starfleet officers knew how to play musical instruments.
People could get together and do performances together (many episodes showed officers playing together, Data playing violin, Riker playing jazz with trombone, and many others)

I'd be disapointed if STO didn't have its own Signature Theme on the log in screen.

ToS - Own Theme
TNG - Own Theme (yeah it was taken from TMP which initially was inspired by ToS i think, but i always thing of TNG when i hear it)
Voy - Own Theme
DS9 - Own theme

Even the movies all had their own Distinct music for the opening.


It's something that i think is deeply engraved into the Trek Franchise. I would really like STO to have its own music.
