I hope that for the PvP in the neutral zone Planets will be occupied by a King of the Hill system.
Basically as long as you control the capital of the planet the planet is yours. Once your faction is removed from that building then you loose control of it.
I would also like to see that on stations as well
Basically who ever is incontrol of the Bridge is incharge of the station.. But as soon as the other Faction kills off the Crew in the bridge of the station they gain control.
I also hope that AI players will take part in this too. :)

Shouldn't this thread and this other thread you started (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=28786) be the same thread since it's the same topic?

While some of the standard scenario's are always fun to play in PvP, I'm sort of hoping Cryptic has cooked up some new and interesting things as well for the PvP area's.

In order to contribute to both threads, I'll say I like this idea very much. I do enjoy keep seige PvP, which is basically what your talking about here.

lol I answered you question on the other thread too. lol
But Basically I did not want King of the Hill topic to get overshadowed by Capture the Flag..
They are similar yet they are still separate playing aspects.. They should be discussed separatly I feel.
Even if both are ingame..

I'd like to see strategic PVP, that is to say that grabbing a planet with resources like dilithium gives the holding faction a bonus to engine speed or something like that. Winning the overall FVF war would be an issue not of collecting the most bases in a Conquest or KOTH style, but collecting the right bases with the resources to give your players a tactical advantage.

Not a bad Idea at all. My worries are that it may get to complicated for cryptic to pull off right though..
I think It may make it more fun to storm the castle to get the planet! :) But Im sure that may be they could have resource spots on the planet that can give the attackers or the defenders bonuse points if they hold them. :)
Good Idea!!

Most interesting.... Falcon's avatar is gone, and now "banned" appears. Guess it will be stopping for a bit.

Ah don't take it personally, I think falcon was just a robot anyway. :p
Other than that some interesting stuff in this thread. One point though. If they were gonna do that and do it right than everything should depend on the first couple planets you take. So if you start with a diff planet than last time you cant just go by the numbers taking others. Make it more of a puzzle to figure out what planet would be best.

Actually I'm not banned.
And I think that a King of the Hill scenario is a bit simplistic for an MMO. This isn't HALO.

There can be a lot of strategy to a king of the hill game. I think if it was like Halo that would not be so bad.. It may bring a huge crowd over to playing STO.. Halo is a pretty popular game dont you think???
Besides the best games are not always complicated. look at packman and such other old games.. People will play those forever!!.
Personally I still think Goldeneye was one of the greatest games made even though graphically it is not up to par with the new games..
It was simple straight forward and fun.. You could make it complicated by human made strategy real time based too.. rather than have the computer tell you you can dodge 20% of the time..
Why not make it more human skill based rather than, the computer telling you what you can and can not do???
