Why should there be ranks after admiral? They can still ad skills, ships, equipment, BO all they want. It dont need to see vertical advancment like in WoW where you lvl from 1 to 80 but instead it might be like you advance your skills and become better that way, lets call it horisontal leveling where there is added a lot of content to all ranks.

like raid instances for admirald small instances for leutenants and all the other ranks in the game. So my feeble advise is dont get so hooked on the idea that the game only can progres with "lvls" aka leutenant to admiral but instead can progres with skills to make your character better and more enjyable to play even after you have been an admiral for ages.

And there could there be thing to do like geting that skill there unlocks a new skill there lets you fire a plasma weapon a bit better so dont despair friends :)

Maby like an overturned pyramid with 5 tiers to begin with progresly more content up the 5 tiers so at the end there is the most content and the pyramid continues to grow sidewayes and once in a while gets a new tier

--------- tier 5
------- tier 4
----- tier 3
--- tier 2
-tier 1

I think after Admiral you should ascend to a non-corporeal form.......that would be fun...just sayin

Agreed, Even if they introduce Higher tiers, they don't need to have you increase in rank, they just have to make high skill requirements to use a tier 6 ship instead of a tier 5 even though you are still an admiral

I still say they should lower the ranks with Ensigns for Teir 1's rank. Which means Captain could be as high as Teir 6 and Admiral for Tier 7 in future expansions. Then from there, Cryptic has to get creative.

And ensign would never be a captain of a ship though so that wouldn't work in STO.

But on the same token, there wouldn't be 40k Admirals flying round space in a year or so. That said, its a thin line to walk, what do you do? As said, you could make the levelling more horizontal, with skill progression, and tier progression, but make promotions a longer wait, so we don't all get to Admiral within a few months. But, then you might get the problem of people gettin board with the wait?

My idea would be something like Lt for tier 1-3, Lt Cm 3-5, com 5-7 and so on, stretch it out a bit, make that goal of Admiral that little bit harder. Most Admirals bar a few in Star Trek are knocking on deaths door lol!
