View Full Version : What Would You Like to See in a CE

So we have a few threads about Collectors Editions, mainly from places like Gamestop jumping the gun for your hard earned (or begged off parents) $$$, and releasing store specific Collectors Editions.
My experience with CE is that you generally get crap with them that's not the extra 50% on top of standard edition prices.
So I'm asking what would like to see in a CE of STO?
Myself to justify the cost of $A150 (on average) of a CE I'd like to see:
a) and extra month of free play OR 50% off a long term sub such as 6, 12, 24 month and lifetime (if offered).
b) an extra BO at start for a minor buff, that only makes a diff till about the equivalent of lvl 10 (or about 3/4 way through Lt).
c) a decent pewter or similar figurine that cannot be purchased online or anywhere else, something like a pewter Constitution Class or D7 (hoping they have both Fed and Klingon packaging). I mean the die cast comm badge Gamestop has been offering can get found just about anywhere.
d) a nice and obvious in game vanity item such as the new movie style nacelles for example.
e) nicer packaging than some sort special printed box, something like a tin pack or even a cool Borg Cube pack.
Of course I don't expect all of these in any CE but a combo of a couple of them would be nice, and would probably convince me to part with the extra $$$, esp the pewter figurine.

Personally I prefer in game bonuses as opposed to real world items like art books and trinkets. Items I would like to see would be more exclusive ships like with Gamestop and characters like Amazon. Other superficial exclusives like costumes and items but nothing super game changing.

What CEs have you bought? The WoW: WotLK CE was huge, had a bunch of stuff and was 70$.
Anyhoo, I would like to see a communicator pin (which I think they have already, w00t), a book of art from the game, an extra month would be nice but not essential, possibly a behind the scenes DVD and I wouldn't say no to a little pewter ship either. In-game, though, I'm thinking a nifty new BO would about to it for me. Not too worried about the actual ship cosmetics as the editor already seems to take care of creative whims.

$A150 = Australian dollars.

I think the usual first: Soundtrack CD, Art book, Making Of DVD. That should cover the physical side of things.
In game - I think some nice BOs, customisation items would be nice.
If it was going for AUD$150, I would want more.
The WoW collectors ed here in Aus went for just over AUD$100, and that was game on DVD, soundtrack, making of, artbook, collectible cards and a very nice box.
AUD$150 would need something much more than that.
Hopefully Atari doesn't design a stupid special edition like it did for Neverwinter Nights 2 (now that's a collectors edition NO ONE should ever have created, poorly badly designed).

Instead of the Night-Vision goggles that a certain other CE is coming with, how about a VISOR?!
Sure, sure, the game is set well after they tech'ed beyond using VISORs, but still, be more spiffy then a comm badge.

TOS uniforms for your bridge crew would be cool. A varon T Disruptor would kick ass but maybe too powerfull to get for free.
art books are nice but i never really spend time looking at them more than once. A die cast BOP or connie would be really nice

Possibly a choice of custom insignas in game would be grand. Wonder if they will offer the lifetime subscription?

Has a CE been confirmed? CO didn't have one. Different market and all...but still.

Guys, there is another thread about Gamestop finally revealing the contents of the STO Collector's Edition. In which it has:
The Star Trek Online Collector's Edition comes with:
Limited Edition Collectible Box
Exclusive Art Book
Buddy Passes (Allows your friends free trial play)
Exclusive Die Cast Starfleet Comm badge (pin)
For $79.99, this is a lousy deal. Because the Buddy Passes are worthless, since STO is very likely to come with the 30-day Trial period. (Like every other MMORPG).
And the Die Cast Comm Badge, you can get from Paramount for a couple of dollars. (I bought one back at a Paramount Park in Toronto in 1996 for like $6 Canadian Dollars.)
You're better to go with Amazon's pre-order offer of a Borg BO and a Beta Slot or Gamestop's TOS-Era Consitution than going with the Collector's Edition.

This has been threaded many times, But I'm always obliged to post anyway :)
What would I like to see in a CE?
Easy. A working phaser rifle. :p
But on a more realistic note:
Galaxy X class ship from 'All Good Things'
A classic Constitution Class ship
A Q bridge officer (or Borg is ok, haha).
Book of Concept Art (alllways love concept art)
And a working phaser rifle.

That would be freakin cool :D
I'd like to see:
- Starfleet and KDF patch.
- Book with the story of the game, told like "the Path to 2409", but with much more content and stuff.
- Small plastic version of a Sovereign-Class ship and/or Klingon pendant (possible 2 Versions of CE for each side)
- option to Lifetime account cheaper or with extas when ordred both
- for european market too.
