You'll eventually outgrow the ship when you move to a new tier. You won't outgrow a bridge officer, as they level with you.

I can't believe people are falling for this crap pls stop posting it there are 20 other threads saying the same crap these people have no idea when the games coming out of what they can offer with there pre order when we haven't even had a beta yet there just after peoples cash and there is a 99% chance you wont get what they say with it this fare away from release they realy have no idea

who knows maybe its all worked out between cryptic and amazon/gamestop.
I purchased the amazon one because it said access to beta and made it sound like you got into beta at the beginning

You're very much wrong there, Sumidan. If people don't get whats listed, that's called false advertising. And that can get Gamestop and Cryptic in serious legal trouble.
And there is no harm in pre-ordering. The price is to be the same as it is pre-order and at launch. The only difference is that you get a little something extra in ordering it ahead of time before it's out on shelves at retailers.

After everything Cryptic has said/done that would be my assumption as well. And between the two pre-order offers, I think I'll bite on the Amazon, maybe even see if I can overnight it... I just wasn't as impressed with the original Constitution-Class design, and like others have said: the BO will level with you and may have some cool, unique abilities, whereas any ships will not be end-game material most likely so... I do actually use Amazon a lot so I may do it just on that notion, they are quite reliable.

Judging by the previous actions, Best Buy should have a special preorder bonus as well when they list theirs. But likely just those three.

Really it's up to you on that, because the retailers will be told the date in which the game would be able to be shipped out. It's you as the customer who specifies the speed of that delivery.
Do you put out $10 for next day delivery, or do you put a couple of bucks for a normal delivery wait of a couple of days?
