Hear is what I mean everyone. I was watching this episode again last night, and it stuck me hard. The Enterprise-D encounters a rift in space-time, as they monitor the anomaly, the heavily damaged USS Enterprise-C, and time is changed in a flash. The Enterprise is now a warship, and the Federation is fighting a losing war with the Klingon Empire; Worf disappears. Instead, Tasha Yar, who had been killed years earlier in the line of duty, still mans the tactical station.
(Ok I cheated a little bit from the wiki here lol. )

Anyway point is, this effect can and has been done in other games, WOW comes to mind as one example, so why couldn't this happen as a mission arc in STO? Meaning your on what you think is a rountine mission, then you have this very samething happen to you. Everything changes due to this event, and you have to set it right to get everything back on track. If this could be limited to get one area of space, or a few areas would be fine with me, but the end game would still having you and your crew fixing the temporal time mission, so everything returns back like it was before it started.

Be it a ship from the past, or some strange shift in time your stuck in, you would have to figure out what to do to set it all right again.

What do you guys think?

I think that would make for fantastic episodic and/or random content. That's one of my favorite TNG episodes, and many other favorites of mine involve time loops and paradoxes like this one.

I would love to see some time travel and alternate universe missions in STO, and I'd be really suprised if they weren't there.

sounds like a neat idea

YES!

Star Trek has always been famous for time travel and alternate histories. It would be a shame to leave these out. The time missions could be instanced so as not to interfere with the "main" universe.

That episode...and so very many many many others true.

Would the Episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" make for a great temporal time mission?

I'm going to have to say "no". The reason is because that story has already played out, and we know how it has to end. Now, would a mission LIKE "yesterday's enterprise" make a good mission? Sure. Just not that specific mission.

Didn't I see a screenshot of the rock with the hole in it from a ST TOS episode that was used to travel through time? I think in interviews they said that "time travel" happens in episodes in game. In imaging the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" as a mission in STO I would think that the developers would have to let the player opt out of the mission. I would be annoyed if I got locked into a mission by surprise when I might have to leave for work 10 minutes later.

But yeah, time travel is "in" and I can't wait to see how they pull it off!

I agree with The Grand Negus. A story similar to yesterdays Enterprise would be great! Also I believe they have confirmed time travel and mirror universe episodes will be in the game as well!
Here's hoping anyway.

Ok I could have worded it better, but bottom line we could have a mission like yesterdays Enterprise. Maybe it's an alien ship from the past, and a faction allie turns into a faction enemy. It's one thing that could happen in a mission like yesterdays Enterprise. Does every mission have to be about war? NO Some could just have a VIP gone missing from the main timeline, and you will have to still fix things to get them back. I just think on type of temporal event should just happen out of the blue, while others we can just enter when we are ready.

As far as having it happen when you have to go to work. Just logout and come back later. The mission should still be there once you get back. :D

Doh! I forgot they specifically said that was okay.

But then again I wonder how they will handle in-game chat when we are in different time-lines / universes....

Lots of people would want to visit certain historical locations and be involved during certain series' episodes.
Is that the right thing to do in STO, except in very rare circumstances???
