NX-91001 as NPC Ship?

Anyone notice that the NX-91001 was listed in "Other Ships" instead of "Federation Player Ships" in the new Ships of the Line list? That makes me think that the NX-91001 is gonna be an NPC Ship--which is too bad, because that means we won't get to name it unless there's a contest to do so (and I was really hoping to call it the Eternal-Class :().

What do you guys think about this? :D:cool:

well...seeing as the ship is an NX, that means there is only 1. It would be kinda weird to see a lot of experimental ships flying around. kinda defeats the purpose.

However....

no one ever said they can't make it flyable after launch. you know, when the Federation approves its design :3 T5 cruiser anyone?

Im guessing since klingons will obviously have less players than federation theyre going to allow them the vo'quv (biggest player ship so far) until the population is balanced. When that is so they will unlock the nx for the federation and turn it into a fair fight once more.

just take a look at the ship, of course its an NX class but that dose not mean its not federation property, im sure this ship will be able to fly in the game and i hope it wont be a NPC ship because if it is, say goodbye to your ship because that thing is powerful.

Either it is only a prototype at this point in time but will be in production by 2409 and thus playable (maybe T5), otherwise I'd say it's just an NPC.

Or Cryptic talked about at one time incorporating the ability of fleets to pool resources to build the strongest ships. Rekhan said that this won't be in at launch, and he isn't sure it will ever be included at all. But if it is ever a feature post-launch, a ship like the NX-91001 (whatever class it may be) might be one such ship a fleet can make.

id like to think that this will be one of the tougher ship classes to unlock/acquire. Im sure the NX91001 is going to be a unique boss type ship if i had to guess, but the ship class itself will become accessible (perhaps not as powerful as the original...same relationship as sovvy's vs Ent E)

there is still plenty of story to write for path to 2409, maybe the federation will begin full scale production of this bad boy

My guess when I first saw the shiplist was that while the rest of the ships were listed by Tier (and thus your rank) the NX-91001 was listed under 'Other'.

I assumed that meant that it simply wasn't available as a normal Tier of ship gained by ranking up and would only be accessible via some sort of end-game activity.

The ship's experimental commission date is 2409 so it wouldn't really be a production ship. I wouldn't be surprised if we got to use it on some mission in order to "test" it in the field or something like that, while having the ship put into production and made available to us in a future expansion.

Makes sense. In terms of missions connected to it, we could either be selected to command it on its test run or we could be requested to serve as an escort for it on its test runs. :D:cool:

At first, I was surprised it wasn't in Teir 4 with the Sovereign. So I'm guessing you are right, that they are saving it for after launch.

My guess, they might go back to the Fleet Building idea where the first Fleet that builds the production NX-91001, gets the privalage to name her.

Think about it guys.......... People will be screaming Overpowered! everywhere maybe its better if they were fleet made but if not then there will be problems.

I like the idea of making each ship unique and different mainly because everyone in the same ship will just suck lol.

But I thought the NX was a soverign when I first saw it since it looks so similar :).

Were there not ships going to be made that only fleets can make? I know they scrapped fleet own star bases although I feel they should have them. Maybe a few of these high end tier ships will only be able to be made by the collective effort and rare resources of fleets/guilds.

As I already pointed out in the other NX-91001 thread...did you really believe you'd get to command a ship that powerful? Considering the massive punch this baby is packing you can't really expect to get to play it. PvP, remember?^^

Sure. Why not? All of the ships are packing bigger punches than 40 years earlier. For instance the Oslo has Type XII phasers. I wouldn't be surprised if the Galaxy is utilizing more advanced phasers and quantums, etc. The NX-91001 is about where you'd expect to see the Sovereign if it too was scaled up in power.

And again, the NX-91001 is an individual ship, not a ship class. That's like saying "did you really expect to command the Enterprise-E?" No, of course not, but you can command a ship of the same class. The NX-91001 could be the prototype for the Noble or Majestic classes.

It would seem like that, but if the NX-910001 was the prototypes of those ships, then Cryptic would've already told us that. Instead, they are still playing as if it's a new ship type.

Either they are keeping it quiet of a possible Tier 5, or that it's going to be a third varient of the Sovereign, in which players have to discover.


As for those saying this is the Enterprise-F. You gotta either destroy or retire the Enterprise E first. :p

True, but then again how would people react if Cryptic was the one killing off the Enterprise-E? Even if STO is in it's own parallel timeline.

It's just the little word "classified" in the weapons listing that makes me believe it's a litte bit MORE than a scaled up Sovereign; classified normally means "kick-ass incredibly awesome stuff you don't wanna mess with". And that's the kind of stuff you don't wanna have in an MMOG with PvP, at least not for the PCs.

well, I've been investigating, and it seems most enterprises last between about 25-40 years... so technically, its about time for the Enterprise F to show up.

it really looks like a sovereign config to me, and it's shown up in alot of screens and vids as a player ship, I think it's going to be one of the two unknown sovereign configs, otherwise they probably wouldn't ####tease us with it.

I felt that this ship looked enough like a Sovereign that I really did not need it, especially if I could properly trick out a Sovereign. I was hoping for something a little different and revolutionary (as opposed to evolutionary) for a high end NX battleship.
