Constellation Class

Sooo.....in the Ships of the Line update, Cryptic indicated that one class will be the Constellation....however if it is the same class as the images they have released, then it isn't the Constellation at all, it is the Cheyenne Class.

I've seen the Cheyenne and it's varients, thanks to the PC Gamer article. The Cheyenne is an entire Configuration. So, since it doesn't fit anywhere else....they must be mistakingly calling it "Constellation"

and then theres the fact that a constellation shouldn't be as strong as an Akira, but a Cheyenne could be.

At the bottom left is the original while at the top left is the original Cheyanne complete with magic marker nacels, in between is the ship we've been seeing which I'll call the Stargazer until otherwise notified. So it would seem that what is being called the Dakota is the Cheyanne update/refit.

Also keep in mind that any ship within a configuration can be made to look identical to any other ie. you could have the original Constellation and make it look like the Dakota.

I'm afraid you are mistaken, i am looking at the image right now, at that is not the Saucer of the Constellation. It has a different thickness, shape and size.

Yes your right, but this is the Game version not the studio model and as such they chose to use the more modern saucer for their version than the older Constitution from the original. I belive we'll find that the bottom left ship is the base config for the Constellation.

The Dakota - I am guessing - is a Cheyenne refit. There's a difference between a configuration and class. Does the article say configuration or class when it refers to the "Constellation?"

a) its 99% likely that this is NOT final
b) its 99% likely that they will not divulge EVERY config/class, to save some goodies to discover
c) we should be happy we finally got this list, it's pretty awesome as is!

Gozer said that there would be three classes per configuration for a total of about 36 classes. We have 13 configurations X 3 classes = 39 classes. This is probably all there is for the Federation at launch. This is consistent with what Gozer said.

Either Cryptic is in error and is calling the Cheyenne-looking class a Constellation class, or PC Gamer is in error and used the word "class" when they should have meant "configuration." I'd think the latter is the case. If Cryptic was in error, I'd imagine someone would have caught it.

My guess is that Dakota is a Cheyenne refit, and therefore the ship we mistake for the Cheyenne is the Dakota. I figure we've just not seen the Constellation class in a screen shot yet. I'd imagine that if Cryptic could get the Centaur and Saber right, then I would assume that someone would have caught on that they were misnaming the Cheyenne. But I guess anything's possible.

The Cheyenne IS the Constellation configuration. Remember, it works by "silhouette". They both have a saucer, no secondary hull to speak about, and 4 warp nacelles. They are the same ship as far as STO is concerned. At least, thats what I have gathered thusfar.

If the "Cheyenne" is a Constellation variant, then they will be the same as far as the game is concerned. If it is a separate class (in the form of the Dakota) then its seating arrangement will differ from that of the Constellation. All classes within the same configuration are not identical.
