Will there be ablative generator armour in the game and if so can you use it on all ship classes

The Vigilant is listed as having "dual ablative armor." So, I think it's safe to say it will be in the game. However, it is unlikely to be compatible with all ships. It's been confirmed that not every kind of weapon will be compatible will all ships. I figure it will be the same case with hull types and armor.

Why all this love for ablative armor? It keeps crumbling and breaking off with every hit.

One thing we need to remember is that there were too types of ablative armor: the Defiant had ablative armor that was really used to reinforce the hull (I think a few other ships had it too), then there's the future ablative armor from the final Voyager episode. I'm pretty sure the "dual ablative armor" listed on the Vigilant class is a better version of what the Defiant had. I'd be very surprised and rather disappointed to see the Voyager's future ablative armor in STO, unless it was just one of those special items that you get to use for one or two specific missions.

you will not have Voyager ablative armor. that stuff is impeneratrable. Since it is created by holoprojectors, it is possible to actually refresh one side of the armor should you be able to make sure no fire will hit that side for a few seconds. its too overpowered to be put in the game correctly.

Thats a different type of Ablative armor.

Unlikely but possible.

Well, aparently Voyager could not just refresh the armor, they had said it was pretty weakened, they didnt just regenerate it.

I'm definetly not wanting to see it half as powerful as seen in Voyager, I mean, the Shuttlecraft Janeway used took shots from a Negh'var, and went undamaged. Thats way to extreme, it should be balanced out if it were used.

However, it does have a big weakness, the only weapons you can use are the Torpedoes, the Phaser strips and emitters do not have the ability to fire through it. So you sacrifice weapons for shielding.

I am not opposed to a balanced version of this being in the game, but it really does need to be weakened, a lot, to be in the game.

dont forget that phasers are the main way to knock down shields. another reason why i doubt you will see it ingame.

I don't get how Voyager "ablative armor" was any different from shields. I thought that solid feeling objects in the holodeck were made to feel solid using forcefield tech. If actual matter is being made, can we please apply the law of conservation of mass and e=mc2 to this a figure how much actual physical "armor" could be made? I guessing about the same amount (in total mass) as the total mass of the dilithium crystals. So no much at all. Voyager had lazily constructed "science" that didn't even attempt to vaguely follow actual physics.
