Probably there already is such a topic or an answer on my question.
Then sorry.

You have a race creator in STO, are you also able to create your own ship, e.g. put the nacelles of a Constitution on the hull of a Sovereign and combine them with the saucer of the Galaxy Class?
Or do you have a number of base models you only can choose between different textures and add some extra-features?

no you cant create your own ship, but yes you have many options of modifications that change looks of the standard ship.

You won't be able to "create your own ship" exactly but you will be able to customize the parts in a way similar to what you're describing.

Bit of both, as others have said. We won't have total freedom to mix-and-match parts.

But there's quite a bit within what we currently have. The Cheyenne-class starship is featured as a customization example in PC Gamer. The basic Cheyenne is a four-nacelled starship.

All the variants in that article have four nacelles. But the nacelles can be entirely different. And you can shift how they're placed. The Cheyenne has 'em sticking out. You can bring 'em in close to the body - making it look more like a Constellation or Prometheus.

You can change the saucer shape from a disc to an arrowhead. From circular to sharp and pointy.

So if you want you can make a Cheyenne that looks kinda like a Prometheus.

We can do that sorta thing.

Thx, that's exactly what I hoped for :)
Didn't know if they go that far or only give you a little influence on colour and maybe where you weapons are placed.
Great!

this is something I don't know that much about - nor think thats been talked about much - but I'm pretty sure in one of those dev posts/podcasts they mentioned something about fleets grouping together in harvesting operations and by combining their efforts, build say that new nx class ship.

You have just described this vessel:

USS Odyssey - Allegiance class

BTW I think you can also add some parts like more nacelles for example, but with limitaion of course, so there won't be a ship that has more than 4 nacelles, but you can still for example create Galaxy X (the one with 3 nacelles) or Sovereign X (also with 3 nacelles)...;)

Funny. You'd think that would be called a "Y" or a "V" with three nacelles. Four nacelles would be an X. But I'm just crazy like that.

I wonder if you'll get to put some sort of "guild" emblem on the ship. I'm guessing it's an emblem at least... I don't think you'll be able to hang a cloak from the engines or something, heh.

there were other forms that talked about this, you will be able to put your own markings on the ship, like a guild tabard or other designs, so to answer your question yes you probably will be able to.
