im posting this as some people showed distaste in the lack of solid debris my thoughts and ideas,

Maybe it would be best to put an uneven Diamond shape in the middle of the cube, that looks all shot to hell, like a metallic pitted irregular diamond shaped asteroid with orange/red burning effects(more like just colour, this could then be pre rendered into say 4-5 pieces that break up just after the "outer shell" i think this would add more realism to the explosion,

and also a more solid feel to the huge Borg cube that's just been taken out

anyone else's thoughts?

now im not asking for your (this is stupid blah blah blah) im asking for you to post what you think MAY look good in your opinion within reason AND/OR say that you think someones idea is good,

we don't want it to be too detailed. because it could cause slower machines to buckle after the kill, but enough to make it believable that it wasn't just a Xmas box that got smashed

I dont think this is the standard borg cube destroyed effect, I'm betting its something the player can arrive at, and see, they find the wreckage of the Cube, maybe 2 ships that destroyed it, and discover what actually happened and how it was destroyed, perhaps are on a mission to recover a specific part of it...

Not a standard borg attack, get blown up by a massive fleet wreckage. I'm guessing the cube started to come apart, and the inside being blown outward, scattering debris everywhere.

This looks to me a lot like a permanent sort of area, mabe Wolf 359 or a newer battle with the Borg, a debris field left in memory?

Definitely a newer one, Wolf 359 had no borg wreckage. and when the Cube from Wolf 359 exploded (much closer to Earth) it self destructed and there was virtually no wreckage.

But I do agree, it may be more of a permanent wreckage field.

Are we seriously gonna look into such minor stuff like what wreckage is going to look like? as far as I care it can go completely "poof" once I destroy it. What I do want to see is some progressive damage being modeled on ships while battle is going on. Once it blows up I don't care what it looks like. I don't need to put it back together like a puzzle and have a complete ship to be happy with it, if there are few pieces missing so be it.

People are so spoiled these days. It wasn't that long ago that the graphics you got in an online game was:

>Fire
As your photon torpedo hits it's target, the Borg cube explodes into a thousand pieces.

Find some appreciation people, sheesh.

You guys really commenting on a "snapshot" picture that basically tells you about 5% of whats going on?
