On a different note, long ago I really hated Wesley Crusher. Over the years, my opinion on the character has softened a bit. I don't think it was a bad character, but they did over do it. I'd have been happier if he saved the whole ship and crew once, and the rest of the time was a secondary, or better, tertiary character... because after serious consideration he was too often the deus ex machina to save the day, when he should have been on the sidelines...

Nonetheless. I retroactively give him a pass, and vote Barclay as the Scapegoat.

I blame Wesley Crusher. He was supposed to be a she named Leslie and essentially be a secondary or tertiary character. Once Wesley was accepted as the Mary Sue for ST:TNG, Voyager was allowed to happen and DS9 was allowed to run rampant. They can do this, but not that. they can consider that, but this is out of the question. they can do this if that happens. This part of trek is under the license, that part is not. This is owned by CBS, that is not. Paramount will allow this, but CBS will only let that happen.
