Can we get any kind of timeline already, beta, release, anything?

I know you guys dont like putting stuff out there because then everyone will freak if you change it, Im not asking for exact, Im asking for a rought timetable, ie we would hope to be open for closed beta in the next month or were looking at a 1st quarter release 2010, like that. I mean too many Fridays come by and we get nothing, a screenshot, really? a screenshot?

From what i understand Beta will be in progress by the end of the year (Personally i maintain that it will begin next month Sometime before the 20th) with the game being released Early next year.

That's just my gut feeling though, don't quote me on it!

It has been stated that they want to release the game before the end of thier fiscal year, which is march 31, 2010. So I'm guessing a mid-march release? If that's the case, beta should begin as soon as possible to iron out the bugs.

I am not talking just software as in excel... But you do see other gaming companies miss release dates all of the time. There has to be more of a reason then not wanting fanbois QQing on forums. That is just ridiculous.

Your paradox is negated by the existence of cats. Paradox solved. (Cats are both capable of cuteness and great evil. Often at the same time)

As for fanboys not being an issue - there's a REASON that the developers on the WoW forums talk about features coming Soon (tm) rather than giving fixed dates - the anger of annoyed fanboys is a terror to behold, and it's not worth giving a fixed date (when there isn't one) because missing it causes a lot more hassle than not.

WoW wasn't the inventor of Soon (tm) either, I'm sure I saw it during the Earth and Beyond beta as well - it's just a staple of MMO development, since things like MMOs are unpredictable at the best of times.

Also Excel and FPSes etc don't rely quite so much on their community as MMOs. Lots of people use Excel without ever visiting a community forum, ditto with single and traditional multi-player games. MMOs live or die by their community though, so thus they're a little more hesitant to annoy the community by being wrong on a release date.
