Is this going overboard or being to technical?

So I got to thinking about the power managment options we will have in STO, you know, being able to rob power from one system to enhance another. Well would it be cool or not cool to be able to divert power to specific shield grids?

Example, Port shields are getting hammered on, instead of diverting power to the entire shield grid, you could instead route that power to the individual area that is suffering?

i almost want to say that's actually how it is, i know on some of the PAX hands on vids, you can kind of hear your bridge officers telling you that they're aft shields or down, but of course maybe i was dreaming of that, because it would be awesome lol
or course i could be mixing that up with another vid i saw recently of Bridge Commander i think bah who knows, anyone else have thoughts? where's Tamgros lol

I *think* you can do that actually. Not 100% sure, but I seem to remember talk about shoring up a particular shield side, but it may have been just the put more power into shields on the slider to recharge them as a whole.

If it hasn't been done or confirmed, it should imo. Tons of examples in specific shield section commands given in the shows; it would feel like Trek to me.

I believe the option to send power to the shields exists in the power controls
I also believe the option exists to divert more power to particular locations in the shield controls (left,right,dorsal, etc...)

Since you can use those two controls together to achieve the same end, I see no need for a redundant power option to directly send power to only one portion of the shields.

I dont remember hearing or reading anything on sending power to the individual grids, i know that you'll be able to send power generally.

There are quite a few videos ( The Hailing Frequencies PAX One is good) Which actually shows that you can Divert power to "four" sections of your shielding, this power i believe can come from the other sections or from your over all power pool.

That being said it's just what i saw in the videos, nothing that has been stated by devs.

Yup, you can already send it to individual shield sections. It's kinda like the folks at Cryptic read some folks minds and put the feature in the game. Maybe they are Betazed?
