what kind of captain will you be,i want the diplomacy skills of Picard, but if im in a fight i want the skills of Kirk, wether that fight is on the ground,or in space, nobody can fight like Kirk.this only applies to the federation as the klingons only know war, there is no diplomacy from thoses scum.:D

Science. I have always been quite partial to the scientific community, and given the information I have learned about science shipps being used to help detect cloaked enemies, I think that helps grant some value to the existance of a science commanding officer.

Or maybe I'll be a Klingon... oh the carnage...

It depends on what kind of klingons your talking about, there are many in the empire still seeking peace but doing what must be done in time of war, like picard or others. Not all are as foolish as gawron's ilk.

Haven't decided yet. I'll PROBABLY be combat oriented on my first character, because it tends to be the most straight forward in RPGs, and I'll want to get a feel for everything.

I'm most likely going for a Science route, but I'm interested in the combat/pvp as well. My signature pretty much sums up how my play style will be, though. :)

I want to be a mix of Riker and Picard something of a John Sheridan from B5 , I like the confadence he conveyed in battle . War is not what the federation wants. The klingons may start this war but by God we will finish it. I'll go with tactical /Med

Engineer... I want to know every nut and bolt on my ship and I want to know just what size of wrench I need to let the plasma out of the other guys nacels. I'll have some good Tactical BO's to keep the heat on, but I want to be one with the ship.

Science is definitely going to be what I'll be fixated with. I might dabble with tactical or engineering, but either of them will be a distant second. I like the Jason Mewes approach to space exploration.

Of course, if I do decide to spend much time in engineering, I plan on going the Belonna Torres route; come up with a clever plan and if it doesn't work break someone's nose.

I'm gonna be the Captain that goes down with his ship. Hanging in there till the last available seconds.

I'll be science, with a small mix of engineering skills. Also I will be in the federation... as a Romulan:eek:.

My Klingon ship commander will have the heart of a Klingon warrior, combined with Kirk's ability to sway others with his voice, and talk computers into commiting suicide with his sharp wit.

His first officer will be a hot romulan chick from the newly conquered portion of the Klingon Empire. As a member of a non-klingon race he will of course have to keep a watchful eye upon her and ensure that she remains 'conquered.'

I'd tack on science. My first officer would be Romulan (with the right set of skills) as well as I would be myself in the game.

Predominatly science for me, with a few engineering and tactical skills here and there to make soloing easier.

But I plan to be all about what is out there.. boldly going etc..

I'll probably be going Tactical regardless of my Faction. I like to make things explode. It makes me happy.

Though i will give each branch a go, perhaps i will find enjoyment in another area?

That.

David Sheridan: "What was the first lesson I ever taught you?"
John Sheridan: "Never start a fight, but always finish it."

I dunno a blend of them all....

James T Kirk, surely the best combat captain, also could fix his ship and fly it as well. Always came up with the most interesting solutions(Corbomite Manuver)

Jean Luc Picard, the best diplomat, but didnt get his hands dirty liked to just give orders.(Allways running into his office)

Benjamin Sisko, a good diplomat, a good combat commander, whether of the station or the Defiant. Didnt mind starting a fistfight either.Laid Q out)

Kathryn Janeway, some say had the most wishy washy command style, but always got the job done, whether good or bad. Good in combat, knew science, and could start a good fight.(Anything to do with the Kazons)

Jonathan Archer, never got a feel for his command style always thought he was just making it up as he went. Didint do well in combat because the NX always seemed to be outgunned even by those stupid little suliban pods.

I've been trying to think of a good answer on this: Frankly even in WoW I do a hybrid toon ... even as a fighter. IMHO there are several things that interest me. I like the science side of things .. I dearly LOVE engineering ( I love desiging 3-d model star ships as a hobby ) .. I also see the benefits of a good tatical commander as well. Sooo I guess if it were possible to create a hybrid toon between those three .. THAT is exactly what I'd love to do !

It really depends upon how the Careers shape up.

I usually play Hybrids in other games (Paladins, Druids, etc), and tend to prefer to have a lot of 'tools' in my kit, rather than having say a 'big gun'.

utlity is the name of my game

more options= more soultions to any given problem.

that said, I'll probably go engineer for main but I won't hesitate to "get my feet wet" and dip into the other two paths

I would like to be a Captain like Ben Sisko
- Diplomatic when needed
- Capable starship combat commander when needed
- Capable ground commander when needed
- Not afraid to take the diplomatic route, but also not afraid to shoot first when warrented

Captain Sisko came across to me as a great all-around Captain.

As far as captain persona's, I like Adama's from the new Battlestar Galactica.

I will have to be a Science officer but will have to dabble in tactical and engineering. A lot of that will be determined by combat abilities etc. For me diplomacy skills will depend on the benefits they bring in the game mechanics, personally and factionally (hopefully a lot.)

Fortunately I will be able to start with the diplomatic skill for dealing with Klingons, they're called phasers. :D

Haha, i like that lol,

Well i see my self as a male Janeway, she rocked, she didnt fire till there was no other way, when she did she was prepared for what might come and won ..she gave to recieve, she had principles and acted with valour and distinction in what ever she choose to do, She refused to be bullied or bend to bullies she responded to every distress call that came her way as fast as she could.

It takes an amazing captain, to traverse an entire qaudrant as she did and make so many allies and friends along the way, not only overcoming huge obstacles but creating so much technology and ways to fight to get her and most of all her crewe home.

Janeways a legend and deserves more credit than she gets and she made it to Admiral, theres not many captains get that honour it has to be deserved and earned and she to mention one thing destroying the transport hub - saveing billions of lives from the borg in the alpha and other qaudrants - earned her stripes!!

If i can create friends and allies in STO like she did in ST ill be a happy captain :)

Well, I want to be combination of Picard and Sisko. Picard because he is excellent diplomat, and Sisko because he is well skilled in the combat (even more than Kirk I think), and I also want to have partially Garak manners :D

The Klingon equivalent of Captain James Cook - a restless explorer who will use any means at his disposal claim a prize. Probably Sci / Tac, with a medium-heavy dose of covert ops skills if those are available.

First officer will be a half-breed Romulan - not only to provide a cool perspective in heated situations, but, since a Romulan would never be recognized as a Captain in the Klingon Empire, my position would be somewhat more secure.

My Medical Officer will be Gorn.

I plan on playing a Vulcan tactical officer, transferred over from the Vulcan Defense Force to Starfleet. A defensive posture in a time of failing peace initiatives is a more logical course of action but if the situation merits it, going offensive if necessary.

I believe in the Federation and its goals. To protect the Federation, I shall do what is logical to preserve it while exploring, opening diplomatic channels, trade, and research.

I'd be a Tactical-Oriented Captain--Of course, one of my most common phrases is: "I'm a Pilot, not a Tactician!!" So, My STO Main is not only the Captain of his ship--he's also its Primary Helmsman!! My First Officer (based on Sumeragi Lee Noriega from Mobile Suit Gundam 00) Would be my Tactician (or, to be more precise, my Tactical Forecaster). :D:cool:

I really like the command style of Honor Harrington from the series by David Weber, starting with Basilisk Station. She is very intelligent, but really her only trick is battle. She can lay waste to ships that far outclass her, of course %80-%90 of her crew may die in the process and the rest will be holed up in whats left of the ship. But, she gets the job done no matter what.

I probably will go for science despite liking her command style. I'll probably have another character that will do tactical though.

I'll be the support for all the hard-hitting Kirk aspirants out there.

So if you see the ship in front of you powering their weapons, you'll go ahead and start firing rather than spend what little time is left discussing alternatives?
