Ok my wife and I both are playing CO. When I went to make her account I could not do it without making a new email address. Now what will happen if I want to play STO as well as CO will I have to make yet another email address because the account system will not allow more than one account per email address.

I ask this because as my other thread says my CO mail is coming through on this site as well since I used the same email address. This is something I will need to know before I go to make an account. Also I applied for the Beta and if I can not have more than one account how will this effect me if I get accepted? Since the email address I already submitted under is in use by CO will it let me create the account if I do get in?

I think this is very important information for some of us that play multiple Cryptic titles.

I'm not sure if it helps any, but I registered on this forums with my e-mail address, and when I go to CO's site, it uses the same one I put up for STO. (I do seem to remember that when I bought the sub to CO, it already had my e-mail address from STO iirc). I'm not sure about how it will affect your beta access, though. Again, probably not helpful, so if it isn't, I'll start learning to keep my big mouth shut hehe.

There shouldn't be a problem, when playing STO you'd use the same account you were using for CO. Your using a Cryptic account which covers Cryptic games. If you've ever played a SOE game it's pretty much the same.

When I first came to cryptic forums, I sign up for STO forums and then I decided to play CO. I used the same account to sign up for CO. So, you should have no problems since the two sites are linked by one account.

Basically, you have one giant account: The Cryptic account. Everything stems from that so the answer is no, you don't.

Ok then why did I have to create a new email account to add my wife's account. When I tried it said the email address was already in use.

Remember creating a play account and creating a forum account are two seperate animals.

So far I have not been able to have more than one play account per email address. But I can sign onto any of the forums with one account.

I know it is strange. Also I am not sure if you are going to have one global account like SOE. That would mean that I will pay $15 a month to play both games. I doubt this will happen. SOE did it because they were in a financial bind. They had no choice but to do it to keep all the titles they had from going under. It was that or shut them down one by one and they would lose everyone from that game if they did not port over to another of the titles. This way all the ones that played one game still played they just got access to the others. So they just kept the same number of subscibers just gave them more for their buck. I do not like I said see Cryptic going this route.

Did you happen to try emailing their support team to see if they could manually add your primary email address to the new account, vs. having to associate it with a new address?

I would have had to do this after already creating the account. Now if the Beta is based on email address like I am going to guess it is then if you have to create an account under a new email it would not let you since it would not recognize that email address as being a valid beta account.

You have to create the account before they can change the information on the account. It will not even allow you to create the account without a valid unique email address.

Oh love your sig by the way.

Your wifes account is another account. A DIFFERENT account that's why it needs a DIFFERENT email address. You can have 2 games on the same account. Ncsoft does it, it's not really a difficult concept to grasp you make one account per person and then sub and pay each game individually on one account.

What he said.
You can't have two game accounts under the same e-mail but you can have one game account for two games. (you pay separately)

I am really going to hope that they work it that way. I just started to get a little nervous and all.

I've had so many problems with this in the past with other Publishers. My son goes to Cal State and lives here at home ... several times I've tried to open an account for him which resulted in,

Not accepting the info for the second account because his name is the same as mine (he's a junior) ... I guess its hell for guys named Bob Johnson or John Smith. And before you ask, it wouldn't let me put "Jr" in the last name slot because it would only take 1 word.

Not accepting my credit card number because it was already in use on an existing account.

Not accepting my address because it was already in use.

And, I've had both our accounts suspended while the Dev's verified I wasn't 2Boxing both factions on the same server.

Its just non-sense.

What games have you had this problem with? I triple box in eve with 0 problem I have 3 accounts running on the same cc and email and never had a problem. CCP likes to do things differently from the rest of the pack tho.

Let's see ... dredging up from memory ....

SWG was the cc problem, SOE never did allow me to use the same credit card for the two accounts ... I had to use me Visa (which really ticked me off ... I usually use my AX).

It was also SOE that suspended my two accounts because they thought I was 2Boxing in SWG. I have also received warnings about 2Boxing to exploit the game in Horizons, and DDO. And since there was no factions in either, I'm still not sure what the exploit they were worried about was.

Blizzard (WoW) was the email account problem, because my son didn't have an email address at the time, and IMO at 10, was too young to have an email account. So I ended up $2 a month to my ISP for a second email. It was still that way when I left a little more than a year ago.

LotR was my problem with the name, if I remember right.

Actually that is very helpful. On the face of it, if you have an existing Cryptic/CO account, then that is honored on all Cryptic games, be it Beta or Live.

Best thing to do is log in here with the wife's account to verify she can access the posts, threads and so on.
