Just a quick point on the PM section here

I play CO as well as I am going to be playing STO. I logged on today and saw that I had a PM. As it turns out the PM was actually from a GM in CO. Since the mail system in CO is linked to the forum PM board this is going to get really confusing really fast. I am going to see messages from both games on both forums and I will not be able to tell them apart.

Also since messages are sent to accounts what is going to happen if I am in CO and someone from STO sends me mail? Will I see it in the game and vice versa since the systems are linked from what I can tell?

I think this is their plan and I actually like it but I can see where some people won't. So, if they'll just add a few filters like:


Show STO game email
Show STO forum PM's
Show CO game email
Show CO forum PM's


Let the player select what they want to see where then I think this is a Win-Win.

The only reason I know that it is from CO is because it is a response to an in game violation. Someone had a very sick name that one was probably solid trouser snake I believe. But they use a generic response and I will paste it. So since it will be the same game support the messages will be the same nothing will tell me what game is messaging me.

So as you can see you will not be able to tell from a canned response what game the message is from. Now what if it is a different issue. They always have a cut and paste canned response. So what game will it be from? All it says is that it is from Cryptic Studios Customer Support. Both STO and CO will have the same thing.

Also what good will an upgraded warp core or what ever can be mailed do if I get the item mailed to me in CO? They need to seperate the two games mail systems.

Okay, I've got a quick question (and an opportunity for others to be Nelson and "HA HA!" at my noobishness): Am I the only one who can't get PMs to work at all? I've tried to send some before, and it'll let me make the message, but when I try to send it says 'Message failed because you don't have a valid mailbox' or some such. Also, Tamgros asked me awhile back if I had them turned off, and I honestly don't; I guess I haven't set it up right. It's not a super concern of mine, just a little nagging really. I guess I'll look it up while I'm watching Galaxy Quest.

(And to stay on topic, once I get them to work that is lol) Some kind of filters would be nice, I guess. My forum fu is weak, though, so pay me no heed if you want lol.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I did. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I'll go through my e-mail and make sure I did. I would just put some PM info in my User CP, but I don't use any of the services listed (I've used MSN and others before, but don't have it loaded atm). Thanks again for the idea; while I'm looking for the confirmation e-mail in my box, maybe (but not likely) there will be another e-mail from Cryptic in it... (a boy can dream, even if it is ludicrous lol) :)

edit: yeah, I guess I did. I just now tried to do the 'e-mail confirmation' letter link, and got this at the main site: "The e-mail address <e-mail address> has already been validated, you do not need to validate it again." It's probably something super simple I'm overlooking lol.

One other suggestion, if you don't have the confirmation email any more is to go to your account settings, change the email (to the same one) and save it. That should send you the confirmation email again.

Cool, I appreciate it. Like I said, it's not too much of a big deal to me, but certainly nagging a bit. This is really my only 2nd forum experience (outside the 'old days' of BBS), and Eve's doesn't have PMs, so it's kind of new for me lol.

Well I PM'd a mod for you. I got the following error "Cannot send mail to Fractal_Eye, the user does not exist." so there is something wrong. The "Edit Options" section of the User CP has somethings on PM's but I'm not sure if they would help.

Thanks again. :) I seem to remember I had a problem with adding a friend of mine to the buddy list because his user name (say for example Frac's Friend) couldn't be found, but when I looked up his login name (1 word name that is diff from the user_name) it let me add him to my buddy list. My login is fractaleye, but once I log in, I'm Fractal_Eye. Not sure if that means anything though. Thanks again for the help, though! :)
