Open Beta

has anyone said if there will be an open beta after closed beta,was there one for champions online?my search function is broken so please dont flame me if this has been asked,i tried to search and it keeps saying my search is not the minimum sentence length of 3 words or some such thing,even though it was.

THIS (http://www.startrekonline.com/faq) is all we really know at this point but it is safe to assume there will be some sort of open beta prior to release. It is fairly traditional for MMos - though it may only be open for those who pre-order.

CO had an open beta, and most mmos have open betas nowadays, so probably :p

Yeah, Finalcut, the search does that to me, too. I've tried 3 word searches and get errors returned (same as you said). When I try 1 word search, it works, but I have to sift through threads more.

On topic: I think there will be an open beta like CO had; a month or so before launch to mainly hype up the game while finishing its polish.

personally i hope if they do an open beta that it's not too close to the release date (granted they can't have it too early either) to allow for slightly more "shake down" time.

Also i'd hate to Download the beta client just to replace it with the release client a few weeks later, my ISP is stingy and limits my monthly usage.

Most MMOs will have an open beta phase. But Cryptic probably isn't worrying about that right now since they're still planning closed beta.

It will probably also follow the CO pattern of 'limited' invites to Open Beta, rather than being a general download for anyone that wants to participate.

More than likely there will be. The main reason being that open beta is typically used as a stress test so they can finalize the go live production environment.
