so Avatars what kind of gear can we get for them , obviously different types of weapons ,scanners, personal shields but i mean mostly cosmetic gear . The Klingon might be able to have a bit more customized gear but how about the Feds they have a standardized uniform, hows that going to work . personally i think the Feds should look the same but at the same time it be cool to have some accessories to make u a little unique. Like a tactical harness that feds wear in elite force or star trek away team. maybe even something a person urns from pvp or pve that distinguishes your avatar as a pvp vet or a pver. pvpers could get a combat harness and pvers could get a dress uniform or somthing ,
i dunno just a idea

We're in the process of working on this now. We're trying to add costume stuff that indicates what skills your Captain has without overpowering the look of the uniforms. It's a delicate balance, but the art and design guys are optimistic :)

Hm, thats very interesting. The more customization the better!

Awesome, Rekhan. You guys have some excellent art and design guys imo, and I can't wait to see what they cook up.

As Rekhan said, I was told by Zinc that Fed uniforms would be fully customizable within reason.

I want Federation mini skirts back.... and if they have them... all my Bridge crew will be females... Yes I know its sad, but images Uhura, Nurse Chappal and Councilor Troy(first season) still dance in my head.

I found this sneak preview (http://www.lamemovies.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/commando.jpg) for the new Feddie combat: PvP
:D
Worf wore the bandolier. something like that could be optionally on/off and display various badges/medals/awards for game achievements

I think our face, hair, etc will be the main customisable. I hope future factions allow a neutral choice, like privateers and traders who aren't on either side, that way you could wear what you want.
As for PvP insignias, how about a sash depicting a drooling neanderthal unable to control it's violent desires? ;)

Personally, I just hope you can use a normal, basic uniform (preferably the sleek black and gray with the colored tunic from First Contact and on) for starfleet...many of these new pictures Ive seen of STO look more like Champions spandex costumes.

looking at your comment and sig you come across as someone that shouldn't even bother with this game. This is an mmo not St sims the fluffy bunny edition now with 0 violence. They sure do make alot of bodies during the shows.... I look forward to do it in game. If you don't like pvp because your afraid of social contact then buy a single player rpg. The point of playing an online game is to play with and against other players.
You sir, are everything that is wrong with this forum.
Getting back on topic I love the fact that as your rank increases it will change the appearance of your uniform in one way or another.

Hopefully they'll be able to balance the gear with the uniforms. The one thing I did not like about the Elite Force games was that you wore these uniforms different from the rest of the crew and it was all covered up with straps, etc. I just want to wear a regular old Starfleet uniform. That's all.

Maybe they can make it so that the award gear can be toggled off & on.
I don't think I'd want to wear them all the time myself, just when I'm feeling fancy.

I would like to have a red-shirt to follow me and carry my gear (and attract the occasional disrupter blast)
that way i don't have anything marring the dazzling effect of my uniform

If I attend a Betazoid wedding, I should have the option to toggle all clothes off... for tradition's sake. :D

The PC Gamer article had some great art of the various careers. To anyone who hasnt picked it up yet, I would highly suggest it.
Will we be seeing something along those lines?

I would like to know if you will be able to toggle the appearance of this gear on you character? Because I would want my character to have the normal Starfleet uniform and nothing else, it fits my character concept the best.

mine as well :)
little things would be cool as well ... such as different boots perhaps gloves stuff like that ..
lol oooo holodeck costumes.. imagine commanding your ship dressed like Sherlock holmes jk
also i realy thing that for the most part any thing that realy changes the look of your uniform should not have stats on it that way it would be completely optional.. if there is even any stats on gear in the first place neways lol

Of course. You should be able to toggle off everything except the little black "censored" bars. That's a micro-transaction.

And Yeoman Rand, don't forget about her.
I actually liked the original uniforms from "The Cage" but the original series had some nice skirts ... errr ... uhh ... you know what I mean. :o

Holmes? Nah. Now a 1920's gangster however would be great. Especially if you're a member of the Orion Syndicate.

I was under the impression from the PC Gamer article that we could pick our own uniform look from a catalog of designs.
And, yes, add a modern style mini-skirt uniform as an option for the female crew members... nuff said.

Based on this picture from the Gamespot article (http://pax.gamespot.com/image_viewer/6216820/star-trek-online-exclusive-hands-on-starflight-and-away-team-gameplay/5/?full_size=1). I'm going to guess that the uniforms are "customizable" in a similar way to CO's costume creator.

I asked this question in my interview with Zinc at PAX. He confirmed the stuff in the PCGamer was concept art, but based off of the 'kits' the characters were wearing in game...

Which makes me so happy because the uniform on the "Doctor" is almost exactly what I'd want for my crew kind of an update Monster Maroons from TWoK. I'd swap the colors though, have the uniform black and the shoulders department colors.
