Would be cool to have this ability when you are in a "no way out tactical situation".

When all else fails, tribble them.

Yes you will I believe. It will be difficult to pull off however and require a certain level of skill in order to do any damage to the enemy. Same thing goes with ramming.

 I had better be able to blow up my own warp core or I'm not playing ;)

It would be stupid to do it. You'd be stuck out in space for days. But it's gotta be in the game. Maybe they can work it in as a death riposte or something. You get destroyed but you take out the guy who killed you.

We can use "ramming speed" which apparently prepares your ship to do the most damage when ramming your opponent(s). I'm going to assume detonating the warp core is part of this :p

Ramming speed is different from self destruct. If you pull off a ram when your shields are low and the enemy still aint dead and you know you cant win, as long as your next to him, self-destruct and take em with you. Unless you meant ejecting your warp core and destroying it?

I was thinking more along the lines of blowing up your ship with it. But that brings up another point. Lets say your ship was heavily damaged in a skirmish, will the game mechanics allow for a warp core breach (from heavy damage)? If so, can the core be ejected save your ship?

This.

On the topic of ramming speed (which, depending on the damage you've sustained, might as well be a core self destruct), I've been wondering how it works with the larger ships. If a Vo'Quv rams a Miranda, how much damage will each of them take?

When the K'Vort Battlecruisers have me disabled and burning in space and want to get get in close to board(ALA Yesterdays Enterprise). I wanna blow my core and take them with me! Same thing goes for Ramming. Sometimes the continous turning in circles drives me nuts and I wish i could just ram.
