I will definitely be playing as a Klingon character. So my question is:
Bird of Prey. Cloaking Device. Yes?
Die Federation scum!

I plan on playing Federation.
And I hope so. Wouldn't be right imo without it. :)

I don't know 100% but it would be silly to have them without it.

Well, not for you guys. Pfft you're all gonna die. But I'll be happy, AND THEN I'LL DRINK YOUR BLOOD bwahaha
I'm pretty sure the devs have confirmed Klingon ships can cloak, and there's been some direct discussion of BoP tactics in dev chat and so on. I'm admittedly too lazy to go see where that info is, though. But I'm quite sure, yeah, Klingon BoPs are in the game, and yes, they can cloak.

we'll, i think it's quite intresting to see how cloaking will be implemented in the game.
we can see in the path to 2409 that there we're some serious events in the romluan empire, so i think it's quite possible, that also federation ships are able to have cloaking devices because the old treatys are not longer in effect.
but i think, we can look at other star trek games and see, that cloaking will have it's weaknesses, in most of the games, cloaked ships are either easy to detect or take a lot of damage if you get them while they are cloaking or decloaking.

Well, wait a second.
The anti-cloak Federation treaty was with the Romulans. There'd be peace so long as Federation ships don't use it. Even if the Empire is on the decline, no reason why that specific treaty would lapse. Furthermore, it seems to go against the principles of the Federation to use cloaking technology. Something about the unsavory nature of ambush-tactics I just don't see a Federation Officer employing.
If cloaked ships are easy to detect, then what was the point of cloaking in the first place? There's probably going to be a thing where if a ship has enough Science Officers or enough Science tech, they can "detect" cloaked ships after a moment.
And yea, cloaked ships can't operate their shields, so I'd expect that particular vulnerability. However, just sayin, in the TNG Klingon-civil war two parter, there is a scene where a BoP cloaks and it's shields still protect it from another ship's fire. I was surprised by it, but I'm sure it was just an oversight.

Yes, Klingon ships can cloak and the BoP can cloak then fire weapons very quickly for stealth-attack runs.
