Hello Cryptic

I've just applied for the beta, but I just wanted to make it known that I'm running Windows 7 RTM and not Windows 7 Beta/RC. I was an official Beta Tester for Microsoft and received a copy of the final product. Your application form only had an option for Windows 7 Beta, so thats what I chose.

Regards,
Ryster

So how do you like it?

its better than Vista if all of its imprefections were removed and then XP was fused with it.

eg: its awesome.

however, i take no chances, and my STO rig is XP :D

Excellent thanks, much better than Vista, and MILES better than XP... lovely and smooth on my Quad Core 3.2ghz, 4gb system. Could never go back to either prior operating system now.

Wow, microsoft actually did something right for once? Sounds like 7 is what Vista should have been.

You're not wrong mate, I heartily recommend Windows 7 to anybody and everybody.

Meh, just put windows 7 beta/RC. It's not the same thing but it's close enough.

As I said, I already did. I just wanted to make it clear that if I did get accepted into the STO beta that I wouldn't be testing the game on a beta operating system, but a final release one. Most dev companies frown on the whole "beta-on-beta" concept (for good reason) so I don't want that to hurt my chances of getting in.

Ah but testing it on a new OS that isn't released but will be when the game is, will help chances. It means that they can see how the new OS will handle the program as well as how the old ones do, compare them, and filter out the OS flaws. Maybe even contact Microsoft and tell/ask them about it.

Good point, I didn't think about that aspect.

Hehe yeah, i'm in the same boat. but hey, picking Windows 7 beta is a helluva lot more accurate than Vista and below. And what LordDave said :D

You were a Microsoft tester too? Of have you got your copy through "alternate" channels? :p

Exactly. I'd have expected Vista to be what it is today when it first came out and for the service packs to bring it up to the level Windows 7 is at. But they got it right finally so I can't complain. I stuck with XP for so long but when I tried the Windows 7 RC I made a permanent switch immediately.

I too am running Windows 7. I downloaded it when Microsoft was giving way the RC for free for 1 year. I was using XP all the way up until I upgraded to Win 7. It is a great OS. The best way to describe it is "Vista done right" But after the mess up that was Vista, Microsoft had no choice but to get this one right.

Yes, they did, for a change. :)

Windows 7 actually is not a memory hog, unlike vista was! :D
