I bet Cryptic's STO Forum will or has set some records.
I am not sure how, but the STO Forums combined should already have passed any other pre-game launch forum.
Anyone care to search for the evidence, and possibly a good Magazine review titled---
Cryptic's STO pre-game hype surpasses all other MMO Forums in pages and number of threads!
(Nice headline increasing excitement prior to launch.)
C'mon advertiser's your falling behind!
Shall we next talk about demographics of the MMO player average age and how the age group for STO will jump 5-10 years of an older market?
That too could be an essential statement for getting more people to play the game.
Interesting points, but any article would also need to discuss why that's so.
The obvious answer is the Star Trek name and IP, of course - a game like this is likely to attract a lot of folks who wouldn't otherwise play MMOs, and so on.
Is that the only reason, though? Does the fact it's a science fiction MMO with starships play a part? Is the broader genre it's situated in...also a factor in attracting a different audience from J. Random Gamer? After all, most MMOs are fantasy games, and very few non-fantasy MMOs have been successful.
How much of the interest in STO is due to Cryptic's other games - City of Heroes and Champions? A lot of people on these forums either currently play CoH and Champs, or have in the past...

That would be up to the writer's investigations and what they uncovered as the reason.
I am only pointing out that Cryptic surely has or will reach that benchmark.
The rest is up to them and their advertisers and marketing department.

I don't think it has. SWTOR forums (http://www.swtor.com/community/) have more in their general discussion than all of STO's sub-forums combined.

At pre-game launch is what the OP is stating.
Prior to the game being launched, STO will have had more members, threads and pages on the forums combined.

Records for what?
Beating the other MMO forums prior to the release of the game in number of forum members, number of threads, and number of posts.

19,978 Combined Threads
691,999 Combined Posts
Months away from launch day. Can you imagine how many more, once advertising really begins?
:D

IIRC, I saw more posts, pages, and threads on Warhammer Alliance (WAR), than I have seen here.
