Ladies, Gentlemen, and assorted species from around the Galaxy,

One of the *many* complaints that seem to be permeating the forum as of late is the seeming neglect of STO in advertisements and general PR. Although complaining seems to be on the rise (it's a cycle and will die down eventually, though I think people need to chill out. I digress), there aren't any threads saying what we, the fans, could actually DO to solve our gripes. This begs the question: What do we have control over?

We do not have control over ship interiors, or MT, or payments, or anything like that. Cryptic has heard the criticism, though many times not constructive, and responded. Remember when devs never had sites like this and NEVER responded to the community AT ALL?

What we DO have control over is publicity. So we don't think the PR campaign is doing well? Why don't we do something about it and help out?

Tell a friend and get them excited for the game. They will tell a friend and so on. Make a fan site that isn't dedicated to a fleet, just have it promote info about the game like hailingfrequency does. Before you say "whats the point?", the point is to get the info, and therefore the game, out in cyberspace so people can do nothing BUT hear about it.

Besides word of mouth and word of web, try plastering flyers around your town for your fleet or fan site. The ideas are endless!

I invite ideas and suggestions and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I am frankly tired of complainers.

****EDIT****

One such site, AWESOME!!!

Yeah, i'm basically doing this with my huge ST fan friends (15 or so), and then I'll branch out farther and farther as we get more info. As of right now it's hard to go tell someone about the game because there just isn't much footage and I haven't played it yet.

Eventually I plan to send a global message to all my 900 or so FB friends. Lol, i usually don't do that, but it's ST!

No thanks, if I wanted to give the title free publicity I would discuss it on other forums; not here. Not to mention I won't give my backing(or lack there of) to a title that has barely any information out about it. Seems counter-productive and almost "Stupid" to talk to people about a game and them direct them to an official site that for lack of a better phrase is "empty in content".

I meant discuss it on other forums.

What more content do you want? Flashy videos, minigames, and a pinata? There is a metric ton of info out there about the game, there isn't a consolidated place for it yet, which NEEDS to be made. I don't mean a forum post either, I mean a separate section on this or any other site that consolidates the info so it is easy to read.

As for this idea being "stupid", thank you for being so blunt. I disagree that it is counterproductive because it is at least a start. I remember when games were released with almost no initial fanfare at all and relied on shareware to promote and the shareware was buggy much of the time because it was pre-release stuff.

Getting the idea out there in any capacity helps unless there is zero content or info available, and there are screenshots, videos, developer chats, developer twitters, developer journals, interviews, and convention appearances. Not to mention a trailer or two. It would be nice if there was more, but lets work with what we have instead of what we want and eventually we will get there.

That is just it however, we request information because we lack it. What would you have us share with our firends hmmmm...???

Want us to tell them that there is this cool MMO Star Trek game coming out… but don’t ask me anything about it because… well frankly… IDK much about it at all. :p

We may lack some information, but that doesnt mean alot isnt out there already.

Not enough to tell my neighbor or friend what the game is going to be like... and i'm on these forums every day except Sat and Sun.

I could tell you some stuff in the game. I couldn’t tell you how the game will play or how close or far away it feels from Star Trek.

Really, a lot has been left to assumptions and speculation.

Conceded, but it would still be a start.

I'd prefer a really nice hooded sweat shirt .. perhaps with zipper .. a classy logo on front with either a Fed or Klingon ship on back ?

Word of mouth among Star Trek gamers seems to be spreading pretty quickly. Also, the PC Gamer article and gorgeous covers will do alot to further our glorious endevours.
