Devs,

When you get around to setting up the beta sign-ups ... could you please determine the email address the information (acceptance or decline) will be coming from.

To stop spam, I have my email account set up so it only accepts email from email addresses I've approved. I would want to make sure I had that email address set up so your acceptance or "go away" doesn't get tossed in the trash.

I know we aren't doing beta sign-ups now ... I'm just tossing this out there in the event you're working on the system.

Well, that's fine ... but we don't know that its going to be that ... it could be @startrekonline.com, or startrekbeta.com, or atari.com. Who knows? :)

I don't think they are sending out emails. I signed up for the newsletter a while ago, and never received anything.

Yeah the beta invite emails for WOW came from weird addresses.

Actually they game from like @wow-burningcrusadebeta or something weird like that I dont recall exactly, but they used that same address even for the second expansion which was wrath of the lich king, not burning crusade, so it was a little confusing.

Well, there you go ... you're prolly receiving them, and they are going into your trash as spam.

;)

I always check my spam box before I clear it.

EDIT: I just checked my filter, I already had crypticstudios.com in there as a safe sender.

Yeah, but I run my own mail server here (on this machine actually) and I get as many as 100-300 SPAMS per account per day. I have like 8 different accounts for varying purposes.

When you use your email for clients, you don't just close it. My primary email is myfirstname@mylastname ... I've had it since domain names came into being.

I can't close it, because customers I've lost touch with still contact me for work on it out of the blue ... but that address has existed so long, and gotten on so many spam lists, its not unusual to get 1000 spams on a weekend day. And that's with blacklists, filtering, and IP blocks.

My point is ... I look through my junk/spam too ... I have to. But I know I miss things just because of the shear volume, and if I were to get accepted to a beta, I don't want to miss it. :)

If it's anything like the CO Beta it'll be through email and you'll be able to play only when they have the servers up (like for 12+ hours a few times a week).

I only get about 5-10 spam mails a day. So easy to sift through. Like I said too, I already had crypticstudios.com in my whitelist so I should be getting them in regardless. I don't think they have sent anything out yet.

Yeah probably for the 12 hours I am at work lol. Seems like everything they do is while I am at work. Kinda stinks.
