They're obviously huge.

Do you think going to a system will just be a place with space objects and planet backgrounds or will we be able to fully explore these areas and go around planets and impulse to the next planet and the next?

This is a great question.

No way to know for sure about this. But I hope it's something like this. Say you are in Sector 001, which is the Sol system, which is the Earth-based solar system.

I supposed you can orbit around Earth all the like, and then if you want you can fly to the moon and orbit around that, and if you look go to any of the other planets like Jupiter or Mars and orbit around them.

I would imagine this would be a great way to explore a sector.

If it is not like this, I would be greatly disappointed, because then how would be have space exploration.

I remember reading I think it was an ask cryptic that you could go around planets.

There's nothing on it in the Everything We Know thread. It does say we can only warp between planets, and not warp at will. Also, considering how slow impulse is, even at maximum, I feel it is more likely we cannot go around planets and they'll be the map walls. Then again, the planets aren't very large, as based on the arc of objects we've seen in pictures, so I can see it being allowed.
