If this was posted before my time here, then i apologize for the Necro
I was doing some archive-flipping and pulled up this picture and random thoughts came to me.

In this screenshot there two kinds of ships: one that is obviously a light-cruiser scale with some very Centaur-like features kit-bashed out and the saucer replaced with a 'ring' like structure. Overall it looks interesting. Is there anything tangible on it?
The second ship is in the background, left of upper center and the sister-ship is covered by the massive "T" in the upper right. These look like Galaxy class knock-offs, but i'm not too sure since their saucer is half-eliptical and their nacelles are just horridly placed that would make roddenberry turn in his grave.
If anyone has any extra information would be great.

Borg Cubes, you can tell because there all cubish and Borg looking.

I believe the first one to be a Norway Class, from the Dominion War.
The 2nd one IS a Galaxy, but you have to remember, you will be able to mod your ships, so it could just be a player modded galaxy to have lower nacelles.

I believe the first one to be a Norway Class, from the Dominion War.
The 2nd one IS a Galaxy, but you have to remember, you will be able to mod your ships, so it could just be a player modded galaxy to have lower nacelles.

I wouldn't have figured a norway design, i can see how it makes sense if the norway/oslo/centaur are in the same tier and can be everything
I know about the customization, if you notice, the left galaxy has the nacelles curving up and the right has the nacelles curving down.
I'm pretty sure one of the first contests will be the "ugliest ship" contest. (i know, klingons would automatically win)

It certainly is a bizzare looking ship. Part of it looks like a BoP.

There have been worse on-screen than the forefront ship like the curry, freedom, niagra, nx, etc. I'm not exactly thrilled with the ship either, but i am GLAD you can customize the look of it.
It certainly is a bizzare looking ship. Part of it looks like a BoP.
What if that was the next stage in variable-geometry warp nacelles? whole bending wings to make the galaxy more maneuverable?
I highly doubt it, and it would be horrendously ugly... but it was a thought.

I thought the "Donut Ship" style was a Perpetual design holdover. I didn't know the Crypic was going to use any of that stuff. Kinda brings up my hopes for the sacagawea class to show up in the game.

I thought the "Donut Ship" style was a Perpetual design holdover.
There are multiple saucer section designs that Cryptic literally copy pastad from Perpetual designs. There is evidence of it buried in this forum here somewhere, I clearly remember having a conversation about it and someone providing pictures.

Norway? I don't think so
Galaxy? possibly, but I have my doubts

I belive it was generated mostly to show the "custom" look that we'll be able to have for our ships, but ya I'm not sure what the point of putting huge holes in your ship serves.
