I did not see anything about whether non bipedal non symmetrical avatars will be possible, anyone know?

Yup just humanoid at launch.

assymetry might still be possible, though. and bipedal humanoid actually leaves quite a bit of variety...i mean, just look at the nausicaans! http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/en/images/thumb/e/e3/Nausicaan.jpg/180px-Nausicaan.jpg

Hopefully Cryptic has left the door open. Literally. I remember Star Wars Galaxies devs saying they couldn't add Hutts because they "wouldn't fit in turbolifts". Well who designed the lifts, then? :p

Even though there aren't a lot of known Trek races that aren't bipedal, it would serve Cryptic to develop at least a uni-legged avatar. They've been doing fantasy and sci-fi games, so this won't be the last time someone wants to play an avatar with an unusual build.

Possible, but again ship "interiors" will only be seen for quests and such.

But there appears to be non-bipedal NPC's if you look at this screenie. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/07/Star_Trek_Online-PCScreenshots25099sto_051909_02.jpg That is Species 8472 if I'm not mistaken and they are tripedal.
