Just thought I would ask, given the 2 platforms they intend to support.

Also will we all play together or will we be separated?

Technological issues aside, separated servers imo are a bad idea but are the most likely outcome.

One of the devs somewhere said "no not yet", and in dev talk "not yet" means probably never.

Unfortunately not. The details of the 360 port are sketchy at best, which I'm not seeing as a great sign for everyone planning on playing via a console anytime soon. But who knows, they could announce the details closer to launch, or soon after.

As for the OPs question. You should be able to play using the same account you would use on your PC if they are going for a true cross platform experience, which has already been done before succesfully.

The CO servers will be separate. I think it is safe to assume the same for STO.

ZAM: The game launches in seven weeks but we still haven't heard an update on the status of the 360 port.

Bill: We won't be launching opening day with the 360. Really, it hasn't changed much. We have guys who work on the 360; we know what the UI differences are and we haven't really done any design that breaks our ability to play on consoles. I think, really, the biggest thing is that we know, from a business model requirements standpoint, that we can't have the players play together. Xbox players have to play with Xbox players. Even if, from a technology standpoint, it would be easy for us to do, that IS one thing we have been able to identify that we can't do. I actually think that it will work to our players' benefit because we can then say "Great, we don't have to worry about imbalances between a PC and an Xbox player. PC can be tuned against PC, especially with PvP, and it's the same thing with the Xbox. But we spin builds where we're actively working on the version, making sure that the graphics still look really great on the console.

Still, there is a small chance you could play the xbox version with the pc LIfetime sub i guess.
Anyway, PC FTW:D

Well I guess that shoots that idea down. That is a shame. I wonder if the pricing will be different then, if the problem isn't technological. I'm more and more glad I decided to get a new PC recently.

Yea i know, it does kinda suck for the xboxers among us.
No matter how good the game(s) will be, it will be very niche on that system and the one thing that absolutely destroys a MMO experience is the lack of players in the world.
I dont know much about the pricing though, i personally think Cryptic is aiming for the same as the pc.
Question is though, does Microsoft like having a 3rd party sub based game on their system? as it may take away customers from their live service.

I'm probably one of the few here in need of an Xbox 360 version, as my laptop can't handle Star Trek Online, so this is quite frankly, important for me.

There have been a TON of questions about console development for our games. And, as you may have noticed, we haven't been able to answer any of them. There are a lot of you concerned about whether development has stopped, or whether we were ever planning on it in the first place. Your concerns are completely valid, and with the lack of information we’ve been able to give the community, it’s only natural that the community feels left out of the loop.

Unfortunately, when a company like Cryptic is in talks with companies to develop for consoles, those unfinalized business deals also prevent us from sharing any information about the game's development on consoles. It has always been, and still remains our intent to release on consoles, and as soon as we’re able to share more information about it, we will. I took down the 360 FAQ because it was out of date and mostly speculative, and because I knew we wouldn’t be able to answer any questions on it. When there comes a time in the near future where we’re able to talk more in depth about our console plans, I'll happily sticky a new post up there (or put the old one back up, if you'd prefer).

I understand your frustrations, and I apologize that we don't have any more details to share at the moment, but I hope that at the very least, this post explains why we haven't been able to open up and explain what's been going on with console development.

I've never played a MMO on a console, but I can't imagine its very easy. Even RTS games are clumsy with the controller. I think console gamers would be disadvantaged, if they played on the same server as PC gamers.

Maybe I'm wrong... As I said, I've never actually played a console MMO. :p

Thanks for posting this thread guys, really imformative.

So from what you are saying it will be xbox 360 users on one server and pc on another, well as stated in regards to CO.

I myslef am another xbox 360 user, and my laptop is getting on a bit now, and only use it for internet. Mainly use my XBOX 360 for gaming. I really hope STO is still in the pipeline for coming out for console (xbox360) next year at some point i hope.

Do you know if there was anything mentioned in the meet and greet over the weekend about STO and console.
