Gamestop seems to think that they'll ship us the game on 1/26/2010... you can preorder it already. Is that to be trusted?

But Crazyfist speaks the truth. To further voice what he said, NEVER trust gamestop, they are just putting a date to encourage you to buy from them...

50 bucks for Champions Online and 50 bucks for Star Trek Online. Yikes!!!!! Seems a bit steep for a game likely to have a monthly subscription fee, although I think Warhammer Online and Age of Conan were similarly priced at launch.

So much for any novel thinking on subscription and pricing models from Cryptic.

That date is just a placeholder for Gamestop. It's far enough away that they won't have to worry about changing it for a while. It would be awesome if that were the correct launch date, but sadly it's not. "Sooner than you think" is turning into "Is this game ever gonna make it to beta?"

This game wont ship until summer 2010.

Fun thing is if it slips too much, Starwars will be out and the federation will fall for the final time to the force weilding professers from a galaxy far far away.

Fully voiced Mass effect MMORPG.....gonna put a hole in the hull of STO for sure.

Well since we are a week away from the beginning of august and there has been no Beta announcement at all I would say that the date above has about as much chance of happening as Klingons Adopting the Ferengi Commerce Model.....

In other words do not hold your breath!!!!!!!!


If Beta Starts this Year then the Earliest we will see the game in Production would be Spring...

But I am thinking the Game will launch Next Year around the same time Champions Launches this year.

Not necessarily. Cryptic doesn't seem to put too much into beta stage judging by how Champions seems like it will be in stores (September) before the beta even starts.

That's mostly civilians, military will either do 26 Jan 10, or 20100126. Depends on the documentation :)

But yeah, like others have said ignore GameStop. They are doing it just to get your money faster for it. I try and avoid GameStop like the plague.

They will generally just put up a date to get people to buy it, then change it as necessary..

50 bucks.. it better come with 2 months free on activation >.> most MMOs stick with the 30 with one month free then the 15 per month. I know they need to make their money but that steep price tag is going to kill alot of the audience.

?? $50 is a standard price for new software, even with most quality MMOs that also carry a subscription fee. Now, Expansion Packs usually cost around $30...

Ummm, Champions will be in stores Sept 1st, 2009, and its beta started Nov 2008. 9 whole months...;)

The STO beta is the one that hasn't started yet...

Yeah, I don't care about STO having a new pricing model. I care about STO being innovative in ways that make it a great game. That's what the market needs right now. $50 is fine if the game is quality.
