View Full Version : How many Officers in a ships compliment?

I'm wondering about how many Officers we'll have at our disposal. I've read of 12 being used during development. That makes sense as a workable number for testing. If a realistic trek experience is to be achieved, more will be required at launch.This number will vary from ship to ship since bigger ships will have more Bridge stations.So, how many do we get? I want to be able to compose my crew from a pool of experts in Anthropology, Botany, Archeology, Linguistics, Seismology, Stellar Cartography, Astrometrics, Geology, Exobiology, Astrophysics, Atmospherics, Sensors, Climatology, Warp Field Theory, Impulse Drives, Transporters, Trans Warp Conduits, Ships Weapons, Small Arms, Ship Tactics, Ground Tactics, Communications, Ship Systems, Holographic Systems + Shield Technology. I also require a 1st Officer, Intelligence Officer, Chief Engineer, Chief Medical Officer, Nurse + a guy to fly the ship, yeah my Pilot. I would like to add a 2nd Doctor [Triage Specialist] + a few more Nurses. I might like to have a Ships Counselor, Morale Officer or a Quartermaster [has to be Ferengi :D]. I know I've missed some fields, sorry. So Bridge compliment [4-10?] + away team of 5 + X for a pool to draw from. Obviously X must also vary depending on the ship. If X is less than 5 then away team choices are brutal. You'll want a medic and maybe a commando/bodyguard for the Captain. If X is 5-10 your choices are still limited with the addition of a handful of Specialists. This range has a chance if specialists have 3 Majors. If X is 11-20 then you can have commandos for dirty work and some experts [2 Majors] to choose from. If X is 20+ then you can have a stable of specialists and picking your away team will take some serious thinking. Anyone have any info on this? How do I ask the Devs?

Look here (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=14535). But if you don't, I remember them saying there would be a sizable selection. Also, based on other things they've said, we have to have a selection of greater than five, because we will have bridges with more than five stations, I think. So, we'll have our bridge crew and then we'll have a selection of away team crew from that bridge crew. As we go up in rank we will get more and more crew slots available to us.
Combat ships will have more combat stations and use more combat specialized personnel at the same time. Same is true of science ships and science officers. By the sound of it they won't get too specialized and instead use the basic sections. But, individual bridge crew will have individual skill profiles that I think give buffs to ships.

Bridge officers will be limited. Probably no more than 10. Not sure if they really stated a number.
Crew members on the ship doing repairs and what nots, will vary per ship. They did state in a chat session that the defiant class will have about 50 crew members excluding your bridge officers. So we can expect a sovereign class requiring more, and probably a galaxy class requiring even more.

I believe the number you are looking for is 12
<CrypticZinc> There's a maximum number (we're thinking around 12 right now) of Bridge Officers you'll be able to have on your ship - but it's more than you can seat on your ship at any one time.

No, 12 hours and 4 minutes, am + pm are different.:p I know redshirts handle repairs. What I want know is how many Officers I will have available when choosing my away team and leaving my Bridge fully staffed.

Away team last I heard is supposed to be 4 people including yourself 5 in all. The 4 can be your BO, 4 other players, or a mix.
