View Full Version : to The Cryptic Team

I just wanted to bring to light, the recent activity I have personally "noticed" involving Cryptic, the Forums, the Devs, Moderators, everyone working in the background and the whole "team".
It is something, that "I" as a member since the first day of Cryptics forum, has been able to gauge from the beginning.
Since it's first day, there was very little feedback from anyone in Cryptic saying anything in the threads to let us know that Cryptic was reading the forums, helping us get information, and acting "in charge" and ahead of the curve.
A few months ago, I was beginning to have doubt that there was progress being made with the game development, and possibly STO was going the way of the "DODO". I would see flame wars not being extinguished, people overstepping the Forum Rules & TOS, Advertisers using it as an avenue to sell their wares, and many other infractions that went unnoticed.
Within the past few months, I have seen more interraction between the forum members and the Cryptic Team, more information coming solely to us by way of the IRC channels and Devs taking time to respond personally to more specific questions (even though at risk of letting too much slip) but nonetheless interracting with the forum members.
I have seen more competition and fun things to do so that we could get the prized "Beta Key". Just more Cryptic "involvement".
I am no "goat" and i am not looking for anything, and this is not a petting Zoo or thread. This just simply is saying, that even though many of you may not realize it, there seems to be a comfort & harmony within Cryptic at the moment and it is really nice to see from my angle.
The IRC Channel changing in light of the thread that explained that the IRC Channel handlers were "ganking" the forum members who participated in the chat with the devs, is the latest observation that Cryptic is learning rather quickly and modifying their allegiances to try to accomodate and deter future clashing between the fans.
The decision to provide their own IRC Channel is a perfect example of progress being made in more areas than we had previously seen before and I see expansion within Cryptic's ranks and great thought processes.
Cryptic, please continue this path, I know we are a demanding bunch, and we often forget the tempo is sometimes too quick in our requests, but continue to develop the forums and the game as you have been doing in recent months and before you know it, this hurdle will be behind us.
Appreciate ya,
Tribbler

I agree with much of tribbler said. The level of interaction around here is pretty fantastic.

This is a bit off. One person got frustrated and kicked one other person. I'm not saying this action was right at all, but I think you are over exaggerating the situation. That being said, I agree that moving to a channel without the perceived bias could be a great thing for all parties, no reason to divide a community over something that is supposed to be community building like a live chat.

i lol'd irl.
once the game is out, id love to get the reactions to some of our more epic posts and hear what the devs were thinking when we said a lot of wrong things, and when we said things that were right, but other people shot down because it was "dumb" or such.

Someone should compile a list from way back for those that didn't like the idea of "carriers" and about a month later, Cryptic said the Klingons had one...:D
Yeah we will all get a good laugh.

You and the rest of the team are most welcome Awen!
Y'all take your vitamins and stay healthy. Without your health, what have you got?
Oh, and wash your hands often, especially after shaking strange ones.

Which thread is the one that informed cryptic of mishandling in the IRC channels? I would really like to read it, just might give me some satisfaction now that those nazis wont be controlling the IRC channel

I think the "Order of the Cup" threads say it best...
A group of self admitted forum trolls (me in particular) went on a random 3 hour tangent in "general chat" about the one true cup... Needless to say the thread was pointless, we were all incredibly bored and yet we continued to post nonsense to pass the time on our (at least my) favorite forum. To my delight Stormshade...someone who previously had no avatar selected for his first representation a teacup...
The fact that a dev would take the time, not only to read our gibberish but to comment on it in a subtle way was priceless and showed that this community is truly great and we have (in comparison to other games) and amazingly devoted and engaged dev/mod team. And if you should ever doubt Cryptic, or think that they don't care or think that other companies are so great i invite you to spend an hour reading the dev posts on Age of Conan forums, then spend an hour reading the dev posts here...
We have the best community.
Respecfully,
Vox of the Cup

NP.
I am not annoyed with any of the members in the thread mentioned, my part was that if Cryptic wasn't in charge of the IRC Chat, they needed to be. For the future of IRC Chats and the perception of Cryptic.
A good PR move for Cryptic IMHO.

Agreed, an official channel should be controlled by cryptic and not one guild; however, I'm suspicious of RookActual's motives because I have seen him start crap with people including me in the IRC chats before

STANDS AND APPLAUDS
I have brought up SEVERAL ussues with Cryptic, and they have responded to each one to my satisfaction. If the game is half as good as these preliminaries make it look like it will be, it will be a great game. This does not mean (to any Cryptic team member who may be reading this) that the job is done, and they can start slacking now, only that they have done a good job so far, and if they continue, I think they will have the best game out there, as long as they choose to keep up the good work.
Good job Guys!

I cannot say what his motives are or was, and I have had some various disagreements with him, but nothing fatal. he was just bringing up a good point that they should be in charge so everyone else will have equal standing in it.
