Ok, I want to hear the forums opinion on this.
It is all and fine that a lot of major star trek factions are being lumped together as Fed, or Klingon,
no problem. But WHY do we have to fly thier ships?
Ok, Ferengi are Fed, thats cool, why can't they have to choice to fly a Fed ship or a
Ferengi ship under Federation Colors??
If your a Gorn, why can't you represent your side flying a Gorn ship, if you want to?
OR
at the least, put Racial ship parts in the customization 'tool box' to allow for a Gorn-ish looking
Fed ship.
I turn the floor over to the forum....this is not a troll, looking for well stated
opinions, ideas..alternatives, ect.

There is a difference between a Federation Star Ship and a Star Ship belonging to a member of the Federation of Planets. What you are insinuating is to allow players to play as member races, under the flag of the member races, race.
In example: You are saying a Vulcan player should be able to pilot and captain a Vulcan Star ship under the banner of the Federation. However, the Vulcan government and the United Federation of Planets governments are not one and the same. Vulcan has its own fleet and government, as is the same for the Andorrans. They all however work together in a large alliance. Therefore, if you are playing as the Federation it makes sense to captain federation vessels. What you want is to play as a Vulcan for the Vulcan faction.

Good point, what I am really looking at is....
Do we want to see a game and universe with just 2 kinds of ships
the best Klingon ship and the best Federation ship
2 ships...filling space.
< as the game progresses, top end players always out number new players..in wow it is like 40 to 1>
<given usual player mentality, a concences will develope of which ship is best, and everyone will have it>
by allowing other racial ships in the mix.....you will see more than just 2 ships types
example...in wow death knights were designed to be RARE hero class
Now they out number ALL classes

Your reasoning is flawed. Either player will choose one best ship on their faction and fly it, reguardless of which it is, thus leading to the two ship concept. However to prevent this, we need all tiers of ships to matter, thus having a variety.
I would like some racial ships, especially on the Klingon side.

I think the Klingon side is more open for ship diversity for two reasons: (A) there are less Klingon ship designs and (B) their alliance with or conquering of the Gorn, Orions, and others is newer than the Federation.
I hope we'll see some playable racial ships on both sides, but at launch, I do think it's more likely for the Klingons.

Oh, I see why you are asking now.
Hmmm…
The simplest way for Cryptic Studios to avoid this scenario, of everyone having the same ship, is to simply give other vessels of different Configurations, Class and Tiers specialized roles in which they excel moreover than any other ship.
However, I hope as the game progresses more minor factions could be added wherefore players can captain the minor races vessels.
